NFL highest paid quarterbacks 2025 by value and salary

Say what you like about Dak but I would argue Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert are every bit as much of a huge error.
But we have a right to disrespect Dak. We warned EVERYONE not to pay him. Everyone was given advanced warning by Daks chit performance in playoffs games.
Dak is the 2nd worst contract with Watson being the worst. Herbert and Lawrence at least have the tools. I think Cowboys are in in a NFC championship or SB if they had Lawrence or Herbert.

Dak taking the short, high AAV deal really killed the team. Unlike with Lawrence and others, the Cowboys don't have the room to move around the money. Last time they put it on to void years which they are now paying for.

Lawrence's cap number this year is $17m.
Dak's cap number this year is $51m even after converting as much salary as possible to signing bonus

That is freaking ugly. If the Cowboys cut Dak after this year they would roll up $130m in dead money!!!! His average cap hit the next 3 years is $74m unless they start rolling money onto void years which just means Dallas deals with this pain longer.

That isn't at all. The Jags could cut Lawrence after 2028 and avoid the massive cap hits altogether.

I am no Dak fan, I am right along there with you in saying we defo should not have resigned him.

I can't agree with your opinion that we'd be any better of with Lawrence or Herbert though.

Dak is a greedy and bad QB compared to all the other QB in that list. His skill level is not No.1 and he choke in big games. Only our smart GM would give him that kind of salary.

Mahomes doesn't crack the top ten in either AAV or guaranteed money yet he is rich and has multiple conference championships and SB's.

There you go.

Hmm...breaking this down to post-season success.

Mahomes--7 seasons, 17-4 playoff record, multiple Super Bowl wins and losses
Allen--7 seasons, 7-6 playoff record, can't get past the AFCCG
Burrow--5 seasons, 5-2 playoff record, lost in Super Bowl
Lawrence--4 seasons, 1-1 playoff record, no Super Bowl
Herbert--5 seasons, 0-2 playoff record, no Super Bowl
Jackson--7 seasons, 3-5 playoff record, no Super Bowl
Hurts--5 seasons, 6-3 playoff record, won and lost in Super Bowl
Prescott--9 seasons, 2-5 playoff record, no Super Bowl
Murray--6 seasons, 0-1 playoff record, no Super Bowl
Watson--7 seasons, 1-2 playoff record, no Super Bowl, looks completely washed

Only two of these have won a Super Bowl (Mahomes, Hurts), one other has been to a Super Bowl (Burrow), and only four out of ten have a winning record in the playoffs (Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Hurts). Looks like some GM's don't know how to build a team that can go deep in the playoffs.

That Watson contract looks like the worse in NFL history. No playoff success with Cleveland.

It was also the first contract for Herbert and Lawrence. Every GM would have signed both of them at that time plus Herbert would/will have play off success if playing for a better team. Agree the Cowboys would have reached the NFC Championship if not the Superbowl with either Lawrence or Herbert. Some people under rate a couple of the Cowboy teams Prescott choked with and over rate genuinely bad teams Herbert and Lawrence have played with.

Not every GM would have signed Prescott to huge contracts twice...Once after part of his leg was detached and the other after several awful play off performances for a couple of Superbowl calibre teams.

Amen. I think paying your quarterback is a great way to sell tickets and merch, but isnt always the best way to win a championship. Granted there have been some guys who were top 10 that have since fallen off the list like a Stafford, other guys like Burrow made his super bowl on a rookie deal.

The guys on the list who have made a super bowl while under massive deals are Mahomes and Hurts. Hurts still isnt in the big money window of his contract yet, and Mahomes gave the ultimate cap friendly 10 year deal and just 30% of that deal guaranteed.

Ahhhh.... there is the goalpost moving that we all know and love!!

Lawrence and Herbert has zero playoff wins between them (if I'm wrong i stand to be corrected) and there's no uproar about the max dollar contracts they got?? I love the excuses and passes you give to 1st round picked quarterbacks who YOU have admitted "had better tools" than Dak, a 4th round selected quarterback.

Lets think about that for a minute....

In what world do we hold a 4th round picked quarterback more accountable than 1st round picked quarterbacks with better tools? Please make that make sense....

But before you attempt to try to make that make sense.... REMEMBER!!!! Good quarterbacks elevate the teams around them!! Dak already won his first playoff game by this time in Herbert's and Lawrence's career......

I didn't even mention the guaranteed money Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson are getting with zero Superbowl wins. Aren't they 1st round pick quarterbacks as well?

(Insert goalpost moving excuses here)

Good post!!

...Mahomes is already a legend. Accomplished so much, so early. He can only add to the ice cream.

To me the biggest wart on this list is Deshaun Watson.

We've debated (often unkindly) about Dak's on-field value endlessly for years, but at least he represents the franchise well off the field.

As for Watson....that discussion does not belong here. Also did not know Josh Allen led the way in guaranteed money.
