Something very strange about the way the 4 best teams in the league faded or choked down the stretch this year (Pats, Boys, Colts, Pack) allowing a Giants team with a talented defense, but mediocre at best QB to win the bowl against an undefeated team. This wouldn't have happened in the past. Strange thing is, a lot of people actually predicted these upsets (Giants over Boys, Giants over Pats, etc.) It was kind of like this was expected, as if there is an acknowledgment that the quality of the product has declined. This wouldn't have happened to the 80s 49ers teams or the early 90s Boys teams, just wouldn't have happened. I think the cheating scandal for the Pats highlights how much the NFL has become like the stock market. Looks really good, but built on a lot of fictitious money and it all comes crashing down eventually.....
