More than a few.

I honestly cant stand the guy anymore and believe he's a 100% stooge.

I used to buy his draft guides every yr, but stopped after stuff like the above, along with seeing him write glowing reports on certain players in his guide, then later filet a team he didnt like for drafting him and calling a certain pick garbage.

Because of him and that clown Berman, I chose to start watching NFLN's coverage fulltime two years ago. I only watch ESPN now during commercials. Their draft coverage has gone WAY downhill.

I like Kiper but purely for entertainment reasons.

His love for Rex Grossman really was it for me when it came to his credibility.

He does a good job for ESPN though.

He's just got nothing on a guy like Mayock.

And maybe worse, his successor McShay really doesn't know what he's doing.

Berman single-handedly ruined that broadcast for me. He is extremely annoying over an extended period of time and ruins every single pick before it is announced. Some people (ie, everybody) can stand to wait the extra .5 seconds it takes for the commissioner to make it to the podium. NFLN is much less grating on the ears. And Mayock is way easier to handle than Kiper

Berman ruins everything he touches -- NFL, MLB All-Star game, US Open, anything.

Berman can't let it be about the event, it has to be about Berman and his schtick.

Case in point. The Buffalo Bills. :laugh2:

He is 310lbs. That is big enough. He can also get even bigger. I bet he can play at 320-325lbs. The kid is 20 years old. I think you are going a bit overboard on this weight thing. You are act like there is a 80% chance that the kid can only play at 280lbs.

He is 310 lbs, up from 280 and change since the end of the College season or 6 months lets say. How many people do you know, physically fit people, that can gain 30 lbs in 6 months? You don't see any issues with him being able to carry that?

I hate to argue with you buddy but at 20 years old and on his frame, 5pds a month isn't unreasonable for someone who's eating well and working out.

dbair1967;3913680 said:
How is that a question? How big does he need to be exactly because right now he's about 315lbs or so.

There have been reports that he is having problems keeping the weight. At this point David, I don't know what he weighs. I do know, and I've mentioned this in an earlier post, that gaining 30 pounds in 6 months is not healthy, even at 20 years old. That's a lot of weight to gain. If he is a consistent 315 lbs, then that would obviously be better but I don't know if he is or is not and I don't know if the weight gain is muscle or not.

Considering his diet and physical training in college vs what he will have in the pros. I think he can carry 300+lbs. I actually think whoever drafts him will bulk him up even more. Now, I think early on, he might have trouble hanging on to 315-320lbs, but yes. I think he can hold on to 300+lbs. Even at 20 years old. Once he gets to 22 or so, I think he will carry 320lbs easy.

That is not my exprience Duane. If you are somebody who has not been weight training in a college program or participating in major college sports, then I might agree with you. However, if you are a person who has been training, who knows that in order to play at the next level you must be bigger and who has access the the most advanced physical training regiments there are, which he was at USC, then 30 lbs is a lot to gain. We are not talking about a kid who just got up off the couch. This is a starting RT for a top 5 program in the country who knows he is going to get drafted high and also knows that he must be in top condition in order to play well.

ABQCOWBOY;3913662 said:
Again, not the point. Can he develop, I think everybody agrees that it's very possible. Here and now, is he big enough? How many RTs in the NFL play at 280 or even 290? As I said earlier, there is only 1 who starts at under 300 and that's only because Carolina was forced to play him. If not for injury, there would have been zero players under 300 starting at RT in the NFL. I think you have to conclude that there is a reason for that.

I think I, as well as others, have pointed out correctly your missing the point. Tyron Smith IS 307-310 lbs. Going on about how many 290 lb RT in the league there are right now is irrelevant.

If you're thinking he can't maintain that weight and well only end up playing at 290, it's a major assumption on your part.

I agree with this. That is reasonable to assume. A few years from now, we are talking about a different animal.

Perhaps but the argument can easily be made that it's a major assumption to think that he can keep the weight on as well. He has had a history of having difficulty keeping weight on since long before now. It's not such a stretch to think that it's still an issue.

I'm sure once he gets in a good weight and nutrition program, he'll be able to maintain 300 lbs. It is a little bit of an issue right now, but I wouldn't be terribly concerned over the long term. Just get him in a professional program, he should be alright

If he had stick legs or rail like upper body build, I'd be more concerned.

But that isnt the case.

He has the frame to easily carry 315-320 without loisng much (if anything) athletically.

Some kids fill out later than others.

I like Mayock but he's got his strengths and weaknesses as well, when it comes to DB's, Mayocks word is gospel in my opinion.

On just about everything else, I take what he says with a grain of salt.

I am not overly concerned about him being able to eventually add weight either but right now, I would be concerned. If your planning on this kid being your starter at RT from day one, which is the discussion so far as I understand it, I would have concerns. To be honest David, this kid is 6'5" 3??, athletically gifted, played at a major college program, he's everything you could want in an OT but he's a question mark of being in the top 5 which is odd to me. It is usually not the case. If your an unquestioned top talent as an OT, it usually means that your a top 5 pick easy. But for this kid, it doesn't seem to be the case. I just think that there is probably a reason the NFL doesn't seem to love this kid as much as they have similar prospects in the past. I don't know, I mean it really doesn't matter. Teams are pretty much set at what they are going to do at this point. What's gonna happen is gonna happen and all this is just talk amongst the fans.

I think if you put any of these guys in front of a mic and ask them about every single player than you're going to see that everyone is wrong quite a bit.

Except Ted Thompson. The guy can't miss right now.
