He doesn't necessarily like them, it just that he doesn't have anything else here. He admitted he'd love to have a huge guy like Pat Williams.

To be fair, We had a real nose tackle. But for some reason our gm got cute and shipped him to miami for a 6th round pick.

say what you want, but he was a leader, a guy the players looked up to and a guy who held his ground in the running game.

But we are a team all about sacks and stats. Who needs a run stopper.

i agree theebs, fergueson was a very good player and a team leader in the locker room and on the field. I think this defense is missing that.

Yeah, I didn't have a problem with any of the other Miami deals, but that one infuriated me. I really hope Jerry didn't just want to prove that he could win with "his" NT (Tank) instead of Parcells'.

That's what I thought, too.

But I'm not surprised Tank was in the lowlights.

BTW, Sterling Sharpe picked us to win. Guess what, Monte Kiffen plays a lot of off coverage. But what does he know about D?

He also plays Cover 2 zone most of the time. Playing off when you're in cover 2 zone is one thing, doing it when your in man 2 man (often) is dumb.

Exactly, what do YOU know about D? Not much apparently.

Yeah Rack, everyone knows we've been playing so much man this year. All that off coverage people complain about was never zone.

Sometimes you just have to be a jerk and try to insult people, don't you?

Where did I say we played off man coverage all teh time?

I only insult people that make claims that simply aren't true and they know it's not true.

We don't run much Tampa 2 so comparing what our CBs do to what TB's CBs do it irrelevant. If we played a lot of Tampa 2 then I'd expect more off coverage.

That said, TB plays press coverage quite a bit out of their Tampa 2 zone so you're wrong either way.

Too much is being made of having/not having in this case a team leader.
The leaders are already there, they just need to realize it is time to step up, and no matter how much they are asked, are told, it will not happen until they are ready to do it.

They are young and immature, and everything they are going thru right now is shaping and molding them. when they come thru this on the winning side or until they win something more significant, like a palyoff game, or both scenarios everyone will see those leaders front and center.

This team(players) are finding their own way, because they do not have a strong leader leading them, their leader is a soft laid back leader. every leadership style has its pros and cons.

But the one person that really do need to realize that he is the true leader of this team is Romo, he can drive this team period, and he can dictate to the coaching staff and the owner, but he is unwilling to step into his role fully for whatever reason, but eventually he will, the only way he can avoid it is to retire or let someone beat him out.

ddh33 totally agree, i think spears would make the ultimate NT and then you could play ratliff at LDE
Spears is a quiter and quits on plays all the time. we can't have a quiter being the anchor of our defense.

to be fair he did tear both his biceps and is 34 years old.

No, they aren't.

Yes, they are. Just let it go, theywill stand up in due time. No matter how much whining fans do, it will not make the leaders stand up until the time is right for them, not for us.

Just let it go, all you and I and everyone else can do is wait. It will happen.

I don't see any leaders. Who is young and immature? We have a ton of Vets that should step up. How long do they use the same excuses?

Tank 'Fail' Johnson.

He's got a freakish body. He belongs back in the 4-3 where he can use his strength to shed blocks 1 on 1. He doesn't have a good base, he gets pushed around really easily, and is just wrong in almost every way for the 3-4.

cowboyjoe;2371409 said:
well i like big huge nosetackles if your going to play the 3-4 you need a big NT to clog the middle, our NT's are small

We didn't need one last year.....

That's Rack, JD or Tonka has a little bit of that in him as well. Me too, when you negatively obssess over Jerry Jones.:laugh2:

You have to give it to Rack though, he knows his football inside and out and sideways. I will never forget back in the day at the Ranch when I was in Rack's meat grinder. I believe my user name might have been risingstar or plain cowboyed.

I was just starting to get into Cowboys football beyond winning and losing and thought I knew a lot.

So I started typing about how well Hutchinson was doing along with the Oline blocking and Rack pointedly stated that reading my post was an entire waste of time because the team was practicing and we weren't even in pads.

I turned beet red and my ego was wounded despite me toiling on my keyboard anonymously. I still get post-traumatic typing syndrome flashback after that little Rack salvo.

I didn't make a single claim that wasn't true. All I said was that Kiffen played off coverage a lot, and he's a good DC. Find where I said that we play Tampa 2. You can't because I didn't.

You didn't even watch the clip that showed what I'm talking about, did you? It was the same thing people complain about here -- which I've never even complained about myself.

Nope, you were just looking for another internet squabble.

i think some of what some people are saying has some merit

i think its the most of what everyone has been saying
no hitting in practice
better game planning by coaches
more discipline needed
better attitude by players with more heart and fire
more accountability from players and coaches
