There are about 20-25 QBs in the league that I'd feel comfortable with.

You're saying that as if it's a high number, but in this scenario it's too low--you wouldn't be able to pry any of them away to become a Cowboy and replace Dak.

Tyron Smith is unquestioned. Then you have Martin, Frederick and Elliott. Prescott has to enter the equation because all teams will snatch a QB in a heartbeat.

So reluctantly, I would have Smith, Elliott, as I think he is a transcendent talent and Prescott, simply because getting a QB, even a half reliable one is such a chore.

I would be physically sick losing Frederick and Martin though.

This is a restrictive loaded question though. No expansion draft would only allow teams to protect three players.

The last expansion draft in 2002 had the teams only exposing five players in total.

I would ask the question what ten Cowboys would you protect if the number grew to 10. To me it is tough to see more than six-seven locks.
This is a good post.

Dak - It would have to start with him. For me... there probably isn't more than about 6 or 7 guys I'd rather have leading my offense, and that is without considering age. Throw in age and that number falls off considerably.

Elliott - he brings such toughness and alpha dog mentality to the whole team that his value goes far beyond that of just a RB. He's 21 years old and is still a few years away from his prime. I just couldn't let him go although my head is telling me to keep an OL instead.

Frederick - Conventional thinking says T Smith here but I think that Frederick is invaluable to the OL. The OL was stable and becoming a force when Travis took his first snap in Dallas. He is uncommonly smart and he helps run the entire offense. His line calls are always 100% and he is immovable in the middle of the line. He's the most important piece on the best OL in football.

I'd vomit when Smith and Martin left though.

I keep the consistently great players: Smith, Fred, and Martin.

Zeke is an RB, he's expendable just by nature of the position. If Dak had more than 1 year of high productivity, I'd consider choosing him. I choose 3 elite players that has turned a line into the best in the league, and honestly, could historically be one of the greatest of all time.

Dez is injury prone and pushing 30 - expendable
Lee is injury prone and 30 - expendable
D-Line is full of questionable players - all expendable

Not even tough for me to choose.

CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
Dak
Tron
Frederick
I love Martin & believe he is the best OG in the league. However, Frederick is also the best at a more important position on the O-line. It takes someone who is smart, quick, & powerful to call blocking assignments, adjust to audibles, etc. Tough call, but those are the three guys I would keep. Too bad we don't have a perennial all-pro on the defense to worry about. Lee is older with bad knees. I would love to have included Zeke, but he isn't nearly as effective without an All-Pro Center. There is no clear-cut answer, though.
Precisely.

Dak
Fredricks
Tyron

I think a lot of ppl are underestimating how important the Center position is... TF is Physically imposing and really intelligent.

The other two are obvious, don't know how u could argue anything else...

Tyron and Martin for sure

Toss up between Zeke and Dak but Dak has the edge because of his position

Guys like Witten, Fred, Dez, Lee and Beasley would make top 3 on most teams

Maliek Collins could prove to be our best defensive player this year so he's up there

This offense is just loaded

I really wish there was a poll for this, with say the top 10-12 stars.

1. Tyron Smith
2. Ezekiel Elliott
3. Travis Frederick
4. Zack Martin
5. Dak Prescott
6. Sean Lee
7. Dez Bryant
8. Uh
9. Err
10. Emm
11. Ahem

Someone on here might want to save a "potential" type player. I wouldn't, but in a poll like this, more options the better. Ppl are dumb sometimes lol

8) Bailey
9) Witten
10) Orlando Scandrick
11) Beasley
12) Jaylon? Awuzie? Irving?

I do polls all the time, just me SOMEONE would choose one of them and be dead serious lol

There are "potentials". Like La'el Collins for example. Beasley, maybe the rookies. But I would not protect older players like Witten and Scandrick.

I wouldn't either, I just typed names that came to my head.
