i certainly blame the NFL network because even though i might want the channel it doesnt mean you have to charge people that extra money when they dont care about the NFL. Their just taking advantage of the customers and that isnt right

Just like every other cable channel on basic cable. You pay for all that even if you don't watch it. It's not the NFL Network you should be complaining about, but the system that the cable companies use.

I understand that, but that's what the NFL wants. They want it to be included in every package just like ESPN. ESPN is included is basically every single package you can possibly get from any provider yet I'm sure there are quite a few subscribers who don't watch it. Those subscribers pay for it regardless. The system is screwed up. The NFL is just trying to be included in the screwed up system.

Who minds them wanting to be included? It's the way they are going about it that's wrong and borders on extortion.

ESPN is not in basic cable. Basic cable consists of 13 or so channels. Expanded basic includes your ESPNs, ESPN2s, etc.

My guess is the NFLN launched this campaign to see exactly how much of a difference they're making in their short history. From the looks of it they're making a pretty big difference. I, personally, don't think it's much to ask to be included on that expanded tier. The cable companies want to charge extra to their subs for the NFLN. Don't you find it funny that some cable companies are on board with no issues while others are not? I find that very interesting.

I asked this in another thread but received no response. What is sopcast, and is it legal?

LOL... The lack of responses to that question is an indictment to what the answer is. Hey, however you guys get it. I just hope you enjoy it. Most of us can't sit here and say we've never used P2P for something or another. :)

NFL is going to get themselves into huge trouble. Congress is actually contemplating removing their monopoly exhemption status because of this. The NFL Network is being totally assinine and ridiculous about it too. They want $2.00 per subscriber regardless of whether people want the channel or not. That's absolutely crazy. A normal expanded basic cable subscription is like only $30-40 and it's usually for around 60 or 70 channels. Adding $2.00 for NFL Network is not really an option for cable companies. It's basically extortion on the part of the NFL, IMO.

Direct TV. I dont feel sorry for the NFL network whiners.

its not extortion. Give me a break. YOU HAVE A CHOICE AS A CONSUMER. You made your choice and are whining about something thats available on a competing service.

Amen brother.

Like I said, not to prop DTV or anything but I will be enjoying the game in HD tonight while some cable companies squabble over fine details at the expense of their Cowboys loving subscribers.

As I previously stated, I find it incredibly interesting that some cable companies are fully on board with no issues while others are squabbling over minute details.

Bravo to those cable companies that see their subscribers as more important than a petty argument.

First off this stinks to even have to wonder but i'll ask any ways.anyone know where the game will be playing in or around the san marcos area.might have to go to hooters in san antonio or austin but i don't know if they even have the NFL Network. i pay 100.00 a month for service, and time warners telling me i have to drive a friggin hour to watch my boys' unbelievable. any help greatly appreciated

you should tell Time Warner to get off their cheap *** and pay the same subscription fee to show the games as DirecTV pays.

Just goes to show you that some cable companies actually care about their customers while others only think about making $$$ at the expense of their customers. Dont worry. Word will get out and those cheap cable companies will lose customers in the droves next season.

That's exactly what happened to me. Time Warner came into Dallas, dropped NFL network, and within two weeks, I was a new DTV subscriber.

How do you pay $100 for service a month? I pay $65 in Atlanta for digital cable and that includes On Demand, Showtime, HBO, Cinemax, Starz, and a sports package (which doesn't include the NFL Network). I then pay $15 a month for the DVR service, but that's still a far cry from $100 a month.

In all, get the dish. I would get it if we could cut down the trees hanging above my condo, but it's cheaper and you get more and better service to boot.
