Updated w/the actual list... Most of these were draft day trades.

10. Manning-Rivers Trade
Ha! They showed a fan sign that said Eli = Overrated, Archie = bust, Peyton = adopted.
Experts Take = Advantage San Diego

9. Trade by Pitt for Jerome Bettis
Steelers traded 2nd and future pick for Bettis; Rams drafted Ernie Cornwell and Dedric Ward w/those picks.
Experts Take = Advantage Pitt

8. Trade by Dolphins for Paul Warfield
Traded 1st and 3rd overall to Browns for Paul Warfield; Browns drafted Mike Pitts
Experts Take = Advantage Miami; Became 72 Dolphins

7. Trade by Colts for Jeff George
Traded G Chris Hinton, WR Andre Rison, and future 1st to Atlanta
Experts Take = Advantage Atlanta

6. Trade by Atlanta for Mike Vick
SD get Tim Dwight and drafted Ladanian Tomlinson
Experts Take = Advantage SD, though they think it was a good trade for both teams.

5. Seahawks trade 1st round pick to 'boys and drafted Tony D.
'Boys won a SB in rookie year. Tony D publicly said he didn't want to go to Seattle. Hawks got four players and a pick. The last pick Seahawk traded to SF which was used to get Joe Montana.
Experts Take = Advantage Cowboys

4. NO traded all picks to Commanders for Ricky Williams and future 1st and 3rd (I think).
Expert's Take = Advantage neither team

What's funny is Schefter pointed out how the Commanders didn't do anything with all the picks they netted. How the picks should've translated into a championship or something.

3. Trade by SF which netted Steve Young from Tampa week before draft
SF gave up a 2nd and 4th pick. Tampa used 1st pick to select Vinny Testaverde and they used the SF to draft Bruce Hill and ?? Moss.
Expert's Take = Advantage SF

2. Trade by Rams to get Marshall Faulk from Indy
Colts received 2nd and 5th rd picks; Colts drafted LB Mike Peterson and DE Brian Scioli
Expert's Take = Advantage Neither Team Indy won 1st division championship in years, and STL won the SB.

1. Trade by SF to get Jerry Rice
Literally stole him from the 'boys. They kept showing how the 'boys were prepared to draft him, when SF jumped ahead of them w/the 16th pick. 'Boys were at 17.

Expert's Take = Advantage SF

How can a trade for the all-time rushing champ not make the list?

You know that is interesting. It didn't occur to me that they didn't.

I will say, they're going to do another Top 10 show about Draft Steals, so maybe that will fall under that.

Yeah, but I know that wasn't on the list either.

I'm thinking maybe I should clarify the title as draft day trades...and not just trades.

Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET

Putting a fresh twist on the countdown genre, NFL Network presents NFL's Top 10, a fast-paced series taking an irreverent look at some of the most intriguing subjects in the NFL and creating and debating a top 10 list for each category.

The new 20-part series is made up of individual one-hour shows tackling a subject to judge the NFL's Top 10.

NFL's Top 10 airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET.

From the best draft steals to the biggest draft busts, from the worst teams to the biggest collapses -- let the debate begin on where to rank NFL players, teams or coaches on this list.

NFL's Top 10 conjures up memories of things fans have forgotten or wish they could forget and uses interviews and imagery to put the subject matter in context to help explain the "why" of the order.

Each 60-minute episode of NFL's Top 10 counts down from No. 10 to the top ranking in each category.

NFL's Top 10 is a narrated program incorporating different NFL voices including coaches, players, GM's, broadcasters and writers.

The series kicks off in April with four Draft-related topics:

Top 10 Biggest Draft Day Trades
Top 10 Biggest Draft Steals
Top 10 Best Draft Classes (By Team)
Top 10 Biggest Draft Busts

---------------
Seems they'll re-air it tomorrow at noon ET. So I'll look out for the other two.

as an FYI, they'll be replaying Wk 5 Dal-Phi game. Whoop-dee-doo.

All I know is I made a bet with a buddy mine and lost because the Walker trade not only didn't make the top ten it wasn't #1 like I thought it should be.

These lists are becoming more and more prevelant all over television. My problem with a lot of them, and this one is a perfect example, is the vague word "top." Too me it would be so much more interesting if they just picked a specific word or phrase instead. A list of the "most memorable" or "most one sided" or "most important" or "most high profile" would make watching it more enjoyable for me. Granted those are somewhat vague too, but not nearly as vague as "top." When I watch these list shows you can just tell whomever made up this panel to pick and rank these have to be having completely random interpretations of "top". The producer should guide them a bit more before they begin, in my opinion.

If I remember correctly, the Montana trade was not amongst the list because his trade was part of the Dorsett deal. The Cowboys dealt 4 picks to the Seahawks for Dorsett, because Dorsett told the 'hawks he would not play for them. The Seahawks then used two draft picks, then traded the other two, one of which was to SF which netted Joe Montana.

It's on NFL Network now. I'll pay more attention to it for the complete list.

The show is called Top 10 Draft Trades, but the focus is on Draft Day trades.

I saw a bit of it yesterday myself... I thought that it was the 5th game of the 1989 season from what they said... History followed soon thereafter.

... correction, I recorded the show about Jimmy Johnson on the NFL Net... that's where they said 5th game of 89 the trade went down.

Emmitt wasn't on draft day. Did anyone know that Dallas had their sights set on Rice and SF moved in front of them?

If I am Dallas I move up to take Calvin Johnson. Williams was a perfect example.

Actually he was. We were in the process of trading down a couple of times a few spots at a time when Emmitt became available. Then we moved back up to get him. A day full of trades that had the Cowboys on ESPN a lot.

We had more than our sights on Jerry Rice. We practically had the card filled out when SF traded in front of us.

We did make the trade for Emmitt on draft day. We had the 21st pick (From Minn. I think) and Pittsburgh had the 17th choice. Once we saw Emmitt falling in the draft, we traded up with Pittsburgh and took Smith at 17.

Jimmy Johnson had tried to make trades up for James Francis and Ray Agnew already in that draft and those trades never materialized. Emmitt though, turned out to be the ultimate consolation prize.
