I knew the story was too good to be true. Watching the game Matthews was 1, and Murray 2 this week. Pretty much like it's been all year with those guys rotating their backs.

Make no mistake he was a big loss for us because Jerry didn't replace him with someone comparable.

I think it is hard to say what impact Murray would have without Romo all year. I don't think this year would be much different to be honest.

it might not have made a huge difference, but one thing is for sure we wouldnt be last in the NFL on 3rd and 1's

Last year was a fluke year..................? I really thought we had turned the corner as a franchise last year. Now I think, that is under serious question. Because what I have seen this year leads me to believe that, last year was a fluke. A series of really lucky breaks that lead to some momentum. I believe with Romo this year, we still aren't that strong of a team. 10-6, and thats With Romo. Without him we are a 5 win team. I believe losing DM and inexplicably replacing him with DMC and Randle was irresponsible. Couple that decision with the decision to keep Brandon Weeden as backup was horrendous.

But more then all that. Its the culture that has failed. I look around the league and see how many teams go on and win when their QB goes down. We couldn't. Because without Romo we dont have ..................anything. That is our culture. That has been our culture for a long long time now. I thought that had changed.

One more year for Garrett. I think that will be it for him. If we dont make a push into the playoffs next year, JG must be replaced. A GM must be named. One that isn't part of the Jones Family. I am pretty sure that wont happen, but myself as a fan, will see it as an insult. As disrespectful, to the Dallas Cowboys fans. I am sure the money will roll in, whatever happens.

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying last year was a fluke. We gutted out some good teams least year and played well. I would agree that last year could have been a fluke in the eyes that our talent was not held back by our coaches and or FO. So what I mean by that is Garret is not a good coach but our competitiveness and talent overcame that weakness and we won games. So for Garret it was a fluke but for the players I feel they could be special next year. Last year compared to this year:

Last year- Romo was #1 in the league with QB rating. Murray was #1 rusher. Dez was healthy and on fire. Defense made turnovers and had less talent. There was none or very little off the field distractions. the biggest non-football story for Dallas was Randle stealing underwear.

This year- Romo is injured. Murray gone. Dez is injured and comes back slowly. Defense is far more talented and very few turnovers. As far as off the field distractions- in the off season all the talk is Murray and Dez. Hardy signing is a distraction in off season and during season. Hardy's ex-GF pictures hit the internet. Dez's monkey. Dez's locker room fight with reporters. The constant, irresponsible media looking for some type of negative story with Dez and Hardy on the sidelines.

I think if I could do it over again for Jerry, I would have kept Murray, not signed Hardy and tried in fullest to get the deal done quickly with Dez. One major difference between this year and last year is the injuries and the off the field distractions. We entered the off season with speculation of who would be back and all that stuff and it seems like we entered into the season carrying that off season baggage. Then when injuries hit, the baggage that started in the off season came full front.

What I want more than anything is to go into the off season with a plan and stick to it. No off season baggage. I think that's the biggest difference between last year and this year. This season reminds me of the '97 season. The team's talent started to erode and Aikman, Irvin, Emmitt, Deion, etc couldn't out-talent the coaching staff and all the off field distractions started piling up and became too much of a burden and we collapsed under the pressure.

So I do strongly agree with you about the culture. When you say culture, I say off field distractions. This year feels like the culture of the undisciplined, spoiled, and narcissistic '97 team. That's very disappointing to be back here again.

DeMarco Murray sitting No. 4 on the Eagles' depth chart looks absolutely grim. But how bad is it, really, for the Eagles if they end up turning it around anyway?

On GameDay First on Sunday, NFL Media's Shaun O'Hara had something interesting to say about Kelly's signing of Murray, who is active for Sunday's game against the Bills.

"Everybody in the NFC East should be thanking Chip for taking him out of Dallas."

I thank him for signing him too. I want no part of a broken down RB. He is a good RB that has too much milage. I am happy he is not here. Draft a young guy run the wheels off that guy and let him walk. RBs are not worth signing to a big second contract. Unless your name is AP, Lynch or Gurley

Losing Romo made the signing away of Demarco a moot point, even if the new backs didnt do a good job (which they have). Losing Romo ended the season.

Murray would count 8 Million against their cap if he plays next year and 13 Million if they cut him. Its not a huge difference, I hope they do it and he comes back to Dallas.

Whatever you think of Kelly's ego and how loathsome the Eagles are, I think it's pretty clear that Kelly > Garrett + Jerry. Blast him all you want for his crazy off-season moves, but at least he's not complacent and satisfied with the success the team has had the past two years. After 5 years of mediocrity, I wish this team had a similar sense of urgency and willingness to shake things up for the sake of improving.

i think they fed off each other quite well and that takes time to develop. *that* was my main reason for being sad murray left. chemistry. sometimes that's as important as talent. we had it.

we got cute.

here we are.

Yeah another viewpoint that substantiates my stance. Shaun's right you know...... But many of my fellow Cowboy fans are too buried in their post partum hatred of Demarco to realize that truth.

No team in the NFC east has a chance once they win the division.

I expect a complete drubbing in their first round playoff game.

Our problem is not the running game.

Not being able to consistently run the ball like we did last year is part of the problem. Murray and these linemen were on the same page and could line up and run over teams even when they knew it was coming.

I was unhappy last time that we would insist on running into eight-man fronts on first down, but the fact that we could still pick up 4 to 5 yards doing it (until Murray wore down) kept me from worrying about it too much.

Last year, Murray and that line started off the season with eight consecutive 100-yard games. Teams knew it was coming and couldn't stop it.

Now, there's no doubt that Romo being in the pocket made that easier to do, but not having Murray also has the reverse effect on the passing game this year, making it harder to do because teams don't have to sell out to stop the run.

That might seem like a hollow complaint after McFadden rushed for 111 yards (12.3 per carry) against Green Bay, but take away 90 yards on two carries and 7 for 21 is not all that great. We've gotten some good games from McFadden (more than I expected), but two many where the average of our lead back was under 4 yards per carry.

IMO, we need a physical back like Murray to punish defenses and force them to stack the box. I like what Turbin brings from a physical standpoint, but don't know if he has the other attributes to succeed. ... I'd like to see more of him to find out because McFadden is just too hit and miss IMO.
