Just like yesterday.

My buddy and i were so so pumped for that game, start of a new era, new franchise QB, new everything!!

We were drunken messes on the coach by game end, so bummed. Little did we know what was to come.

Great memory thanks for that.

I was a Freshman in Highschool so I was probably still trying to remember my locker combination during week 1 of the NFL season. These were pre Nfl Sunday Ticket days so if this game wasn't aired Nationally I probably didn't see it but listened on the radio instead. I was living in Virginia at the time and if the Cowboys didn't play in the Madden ,Summerall game it was whoever the Commanders were playing and you just followed the ten minute ticker all day waiting for the scores.

It was nothing like watching Primetime with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson and 7pm though.

I remember the game, and I'm pretty sure I still have it on VHS tape somewhere.

AdamJT13, a presented request...when you are actually bored, sometime do us up an OP that presents your views on current cap situation, players that well could affect it next season, and a short termed projection of the team will be developing under a cap picture. Please, Sir, that would do an untold benefit for our site here.

That game ended up hurting a lot. The way they went through the preseason really fooled me completely. Jimmy's confidence was really contagious.

That game was at the beginning of my senior year in college, at UT. I was worried going into the game that nobody other than Coach Landry could successfully coach any Cowboys team. I came out of the game even more worried. That whole year was tough, except for the ONE game we won. I watched it with my Commanders-fan friend, who at the end of that game, tore his Commanders jersey off and stomped on it. I pick up the jersey as a souvenir of Jimmy's first win, and I still have it!

One of the funnest games in Cowboy's history. Remember Jimmy onside kicking, blitzes? You gotta punch the bully in the mouth! Michael had the game winning catch I believe. I can see why your friend did that - it was one of the all time great Dallas Cowboy games in a disasterous season.

i remember watching the game with my dad like yesterday...i was 22

my dad was trying to calm me down...telling me we were a young team that would get better.

he got to see our only win against the Commanders...but he died of a heart attack a few days later on november 7th of that year.

he never got to see the glory years of the 90's.

when i used to tell my dad how much i loved the way randy white,ed, everson, harvey, downs etc..etc....he would agree and tell me ...you should have seen bob lilly.

OMG, I was so hungover during this game. Dallas got absolutely killed and I was nauseated through the whole thing. It was like the first time I had ever drank and I was just shot.

Dallas had gone undefeated in Jimmy Johnson's first pre season and I had a crazy idea that they were going to be good.

So my thoughts that alcohol was good and the Cowboys were good came crashing down around me for those long 3 hours.

Thanks for bringing up the memories though. o_O (not really)

Judging by your picture, you were probably about 5.

I had tickets to see that game. Unfortunately I ended up watching the game from a hospital bed due to a severe reaction to a Brown Recluse spider bite which had me in the hospital for a week. It was an ugly game. My buddy who I was supposed to go with said he almost got into a fight with with some drunk rowdy Saints fans at the Superdome.

I was just starting 10th grade at the time, and I went to the game. I went to high school in Baton Rouge, which is only an hour or so from New Orleans. My father (now departed) was a Saints fan. It was a very painful game to watch in person.

The Cowboy-Saints game I'll always remember is the '84 Sunday Night game, started late because of some Regan speech or something. I was watching at a friends house, had to get up and go to work the next day so with about 5 minutes left and it looking like the Cowboys had lost I gave up and went home.

When I got home I turned on the TV to see what the final score was and there were the Cowboys celebrating in the end zone after recovering a fumble (Thank you Randy White and Kenny Stabler!) to tie the game. Went on to win in overtime. A crappy season that year (the Gary Hogeboom experiment) but that was a highlight.
