With the NFL playoffs set to begin this Saturday, officials have received special instructions for the Wild Card round.

According to Football Zebras, officials have been told to watch for foreign objects being used to assist field goals and extra point attempts.

These "foreign objects" could technically help kickers get extra height on the football. However, it's more likely they're used as spot markers.
"It is likely a marker so that the kicker knows exactly where it will be placed," Football Zebras said. "Doesn't matter whether it elevates the ball, it is a foreign object used to assist the kick, which is unsportsmanlike conduct."

I'm confused, were teams doing this in the regular season? Any examples on what they mean by foreign object?

Good! Let's add one more penalty they have to call. I want to see more flags/stripes during the game. 5 hour plus games here we come!!

The more air the kicker could get under the football the father, the football travels. No matter how insignificant it might seem.

Good question, I don't know. Frankly never paid attention to it. More focused on the kick itself.

I hate kickers, doesn't surprise me a bit they're a bunch of cheating scoundrels. I think the refs should be allowed to make them bend over and spread it, like they do in prison, to make sure they're not sneaking these "foreign objects" onto the field.

I think when kickers miss a PAT, the entire line that blocked for them should be allowed to beat hell out of them. Show them the importance of one point.

And if someone comes through and blocks the kick, should the kicker be able to kick the lineman in the face? Only fair, shows them the importance of blocking

The Raiders were using the tee in an unconventional manner to raise the ball a little higher. Pat Macafee pointed it out on his show and the NFL stepped in. This is likely fallout from that.
So the spotter on a field goal brought a tee onto the field with him?

Oh gee, Mr.Ref we didn't kick off of that. We just brought it the mark the wind direction.
But there's flags at the top of the goal post.

What foreign objects, like a quarter to place the ball on? Believe me this is the least of the ref's worries.
