The more air the kicker could get under the football the father, the football travels. No matter how insignificant it might seem.
I watched a kickoff where instead of placing the ball in the tee the set it on the very edge and used a holder. That is legal but shows how an inch or two of elevation can mean a lit
I suspect guys have got seen using something to get an inch or two of extra height on a FG and claiming it was just to mark the spot
Appears it won’t be legal now

Instead of placing the ball on the tee as designed they were using a holder on kickoffs to place the ball on a raised part on the back of the tee which helped the kicker get a lot of height on the ball, and to drop it in inside the ten forcing a catch and a runback. More like a punt than a kickoff but without the fair catch option.

I can't believe Belichick didn't figure that out years ago.
The raiders did it though I’m not sure what they did was illegal but may be noe
They didn’t use a foreign object but used the edge of the tee with a guy holding it

Good! Let's add one more penalty they have to call. I want to see more flags/stripes during the game. 5 hour plus games here we come!!

/endsarcasm
They could take a commercial break to play the actual game and then show us the replays. :muttley:

In the meantime, every referee crew has an entirely different interpretation of what pass interference, holding, and roughing the quarterback is.

But never mind that.

I hate kickers, doesn't surprise me a bit they're a bunch of cheating scoundrels. I think the refs should be allowed to make them bend over and spread it, like they do in prison, to make sure they're not sneaking these "foreign objects" onto the field.

I think when kickers miss a PAT, the entire line that blocked for them should be allowed to beat hell out of them. Show them the importance of one point.

I always swore I'd make my first born son a kicker. It's the one dude on the field without elite athletic abilities or God given physical characteristics beyond a mere mortal. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's easy. I'm saying if you trained from a young age you can, at the least get a scholarship. The problem is, no kid wants to be a kicker. Lol

If your last name is Dicker like that guy out there, then it's kinda predestined.
