Looks like the rumors are flying now that the Texans might want to trade down.

I know all the reasons why this doesn't make sense for the Cowboys.

But...

Would you give what it takes to jump to #1 and get Clowney.

Would that be a difference maker for this team? Is he a rare enough talent to make this leap?

Again, this is a rumor, so the likelihood is slim to none.

Just looking for your opinion on a trade if it were possible.

I don't think we'll see a lot of trading down with such a talented draft pool.

So you are saying the FO would still be clueless enough to think they are one player away?

Way too early to tell. CK and Wilson are examples of this.

Sure but when you talk about moving to #1 you have to do it for a can't miss guy. Luck seems the only one to fit that tag recently.

I wouldn't have any interest whatsoever. He may be a phenom in the league but I don't trust a guy with the 1st pick overall who can turn his motor off and on whenever he wants to.

Clowney's lack of motor is overrated IMO. His motor worked just fine, in fact was touted as having a great motor, in his first 2 seasons. If Cowboys can draft an uber-freak like Clowney then they need to do it. It would be like Randy Moss all over again if they passed on him.

Trading up is another story, depends on what is given up. But an opportunity to take a once in a generation type player should not so easily be dismissed.

So what type of deal we talking, multiple first round picks?

If I am doing that type of a deal, it is going to be for a guy that does not take downs off. Clowney was making "business decisions" at South Carolina last season.

The king of "business decisions" is arguably the greatest at his position, ever. Deion Sanders' playmaking and dominance at CB and returner was worth the poor tackling. There are no perfect players. But there are players who come along once in a generation and if available you take them. Even these kind of players are not perfect.

Clowney and Donald are these rare kind of players IMO. Both are worth trading up for, especially if all we lose are Jason Williams, Kyle Wilburs, Escobars, Webbs, Johnsons, etc. I would rather lose a half dozen of those kind of players for the Clowney's and Donalds of the league.

3 sacks in 2014.

He shut it down as a business decision. I would never use the first overall pick on a guy who can do that.
