As sure as Friday follows Thursday, ESPN reacted to NFL Network news that it plans to present the entire 2009 schedule via a two-hour special beginning at 6 pm on Tuesday with schedule news of its own.
ESPN will devote three hours to the announcement. That's a lot of analysis. ESPN's coverage of what is now a certified event will also start at 6 pm. Presumably, ESPN will lift the news from NFL Network or NFL.com and then proceed with analysis. Note: The festivities will actually begin on ESPN2 and shift to ESPN at 7 pm
No doubt ESPN will pay special attention to Monday Night games that will air on its network.
Baylor's Trey Wingo will pilot the show with analysts Ron Jaworski, Trent Dilfer, Merril Hoge and Tim Hasselbeck. DeMarcus Ware apparently is on call to lend a Cowboys perspective.
Remember it says here that the Cowboys will open on Sunday afternoon Sept. 13 with a road game at Denver that will be broadcast by Fox at 3:15 pm. The Sept. 20 game is a slam dunk to be on NBC's Sunday Night Football against a NFC East rival at the JonesMahal. And the best bet for Week 3, is a return to the JonesMahal for a MNF game against either the Atlanta Falcons or Carolina Panthers.
