Don't remember Gurode doing that.

(Saturday blocking down field on throw to TE)

What part of a player shall not use his helmet unnecessarily don't you get?

All the runner crap does not matter.
yes it does because they have said before that it does matter, and he did not lead with his helmet nor was his target the the helmet of the other player, the only reason their helmets touched was because of collie lowering his and the first hit

cowher said it should not have been a flag, but that there is nothing to be done about it now just dont fine him

I know what Cowher said. If you pay attention, Cowher also said he spoke to league officials and they said the call was correct. He disagreed with them...

By the definition of the new rule there should be a fine.

bringing this up because I rarely, if ever, blame refs for most anything. However:

anybody watching the Radius/Chefs game ? If you are, check out who's the reffing' crew, then check out what happened after the O-lineman caught that TD, ie: the celebration part of it.

Same crew A hole that reffed the Cowboys/Titans game, almost identical situations, different outcome..

This guy should not be working in the NFL.

Regardless as to what the rules say and whether or not the guy is fined, it is tough for me to blame the DB ... The hit happened so quickly after the catch and initial contact. Collie changed the level of his own head by lowering it. Very difficult situation.

of course they said it was correct, when do they ever say it is wrong?

maybe i missed this 'new rule' but as i see it the call on the Field was wrong by a mile, the call it should have been if their should have been a call at all would be helmet to helmet, but they have already set a precedent for going helmet to helmet with a runner and it not being a penalty or a fine, and the defender did not have time to lower his target, he was not trying to go helmet to helmet therefore you can not say he was using his helmet unnecessarily because he was not trying to use it at all

Why is Coleman going high?

What Collie did was attempt to get below the hit. By ducking there shouldn't be helmet to helmet.

The intent was a kill shot and not a tackle.

why does anybody go high? is it illegal to go high? the intent was a hard hit to dislodge the ball from the receiver

now this is a real question im really asking, what is the rule for high low hits? i know that there is wording saying that nobody can go for the legs while engaged high(and vice versa) but i dont know if that is just for blockers engaged and QBs. could coleman have gone for the legs while being hit high?

he didnt get leap frogged and he didnt hold up any hand signs so idk what your saying. what i do have a problem with is that his helmet got taken off which should be a penalty

The guy goes to celebrate, and there's nothing wrong with that, 'cept a teammate jumps into him and litterally rips his helmet off his head, ending up in the floor.

The ruling against Columbo and Witten was that Columbo, technically, fell to the ground which is an automatic pentalty. Removing a helmet in an act of celebration is also an automatic penalty.

Same crew, different calls.

That A hole ref has a rep for one of the worst, most disliked refs in the league by players yet he still has a job.

Coleman was not targeting his torso he was not attempting to tackle he was looking for a kill shot.

You aim high you deserve the flag, fine and suspension if you hit them in the head.

IMO, it is wildly speculative to assume that the intent was a "kill shot."

He was aiming at his shoulder area and lead with his face, no wrap up attempted what the hell else would you call it?

If he is aiming elbow/waist level where it is more likely to dislodge the ball the helmet hit does not happen.

By the definition of the new rule there should be a fine.

It isn't a new rule, it's just emphasis on the current rules and better enforcement.

They need to fine players' pants off until they learn how to make fundamentally sound tackles.
