there was a show that came on sunday at 1pm and would play maybe two plays from the live game and then go back to the studio (while the game was playing) and give more analysis

i wonder if that show which i dont remember the name of is still around

Definitely. I believe if you compared the amount of ads, the length of commercial breaks now with that of NFL games 5, 10, or 15 years ago, the difference would be significant. And the prime time broadcasts (Sunday, Thurs, etc.) probably air more commercials over Sunday afternoons. What the NFL has done with commercial breaks in recent years is so insidious. Hey league, we aren't fooled.
Maybe when the length and number of ads during games renders the games unwatchable, and fan viewership declines, the NFL will hold back.
But I'm not holding my breath. $$$
It already has for me. I watch Cowboys games, and games at work. Because I'm at work. But if I'm off Thursday night for example, 90% chance I'm not watching that game. I'm not sitting through all of those commercials to watch Cleveland at Baltimore. I guess if you have Sunday ticket you can just jump around to games not in commercial break?

I absolutely HATED commercials back then..even back to the 90s....and theyve ramped it up...

like this happens in game on schedule
Cowboys score a touchdown..commercial
Kick the ball off....commercial
other team goes three and out and punts ..commercial

and these commercial breaks can last up to 7 minutes

but unless the NFL loses viewership there will be even more ads
They even stop the game sometimes to go to commercial. Because the game is running too long without one of the incidents you listed above.

Can't they do something similar to what soccer does? I'm not suggesting no ads at all, but less.

Recently I was asked by you tube to rate my ad experience. It had a list of options. Awful!! Why would it be anything other than that?

I'm one of the lucky DirecTV subscribers who have had their local Fox station removed from their channel lineup because the provider and DirecTV can't come to an agreement on a new contract. This has been going on since before last year's World Series. For the inconvenience, DirecTV has given us a one-time bill reduction of $10. Talk about generous. And at this rate, I don't think we'll have Fox back by the time football starts. Have to think DirecTV has lost a ton more subscribers from their loss of Sunday Ticket and their inability to provide subscribers with all of their local channels. Guess I'm forced to buy the Ticket this year unless I pull out the ungodly looking rabbit ears, purchase an IPTV subscription or risk doing the Kodi thing and praying that it works when needed. There's nothing worse than having to wait until kickoff to ensure a stream is going to work.

The local games won’t count toward the 2 stream limit. If you get the bundle with RedZone, the Redzone will count towards the 2. If you get the RedZone through the Sports Plus package, it won’t (weird, I know).
Thank you for the info, windward!

How about recording the games? Will I be capped at how many games I record? I’m thinking of ways to bend the rules. Record some games and begin watching them a little later, after they have started.

You can record all of the games if you desire. I usually record everything, whether I get to it or not.

If an option was available i would rather players jerseys have ads, the field have ads, and the scoreboard have ads more than the usual than them take frequent commercia breaks

and ive noticed they do stop the game to take a commercial break if the game is flowing too well and it makes me sick

They are losing me because of their pricing in general. I love DirecTV but they have become unreasonably overpriced. Add in Sunday Ticket going away and I'm cutting them any day.

I’ll settle for the few national games a year and just watch the highlights of others. The NFL or -alphabet isn’t getting a penny from me ever.

The NFL have an 11-year media rights deal with FOX, CBS, Amazon, NBC, ABC and ESPN worth over $100 billion. YouTube's deal is around $15 billion over seven years to stream league games.

The NFL has already been paid. The networks and streamers will get a return on their investment by charging advertisers and subscribers up the wazoo. Advertisers are shelling out between $600,000-$900,000 per 30-second commercial by the networks. From appearances, YouTube's plan on recouping their investment is on an even or higher subscription annual charging philosophy than Directv.

As far as commercials are concerned, the league is contractually committed to pause their games ________ times per game and fit enough advertisers' messages. I dislike the play stoppages but the networks' alternative would be charging significantly more per 30-second slot, like millions more per ad.

That ain't happening during a season consisting of hundreds of games. Even mega-advertisers such as Anheuser-Busch would balk at the overcharging.

Too many commercials are here to stay. More commercials will get squeezed in when the next media rights deal gets done. It is up to the passive or proactive NFL consumer to decide how they will deal with all the commercial interruptions. Networks and streamers are (currently) dealing in the NINE figures. It is a fantasy (or nightmare depending on the perspective) if there are some believers thinking they will ever feel charitable to viewers bombarded by too many ads.

NFL Sunday Ticket: There Could Be a Problem With Password Sharing

TV Answer Man, explain this for me. There is a two stream maximum for the NFL Sunday Ticket so does that mean I could watch in my house and a friend who pays for half of the Ticket price can watch in his house in another town? Would that be okay? — Victor, Reno, Nevada.

Victor, you’re right. Google has said that Sunday Ticket subscribers to either YouTube Primetime Channels or YouTube TV will only have access to two streams at the same time. That means you could watch one game at your house and, yes, a friend (paying or not) could watch a game in his house. This would be helpful for fans who want to share the costs of the Ticket sub which starts at $249 until June 6. The base price jumps $100 after June 6. (See this article for pricing details.)

There will be no IP address restrictions in watching a game, but Google does have one stipulation that could cause a problem with fans with Ticket subscription partners in another town.
You both have to share the same Wi-Fi. That’s the difference in the whole thing.

Verizon does the same thing you cannot go from your phone to a TV. Unless they both have the same Wi-Fi. It’s all about using the same net work.

I cannot agree more. Stopping the game because of the flow is what agitates me the most. It doesn't happen that often, can they not just let it play out? They already have 5 million ads.

I could be mistaken about this, but the past few seasons I've noticed in some games that following a score, then a customary 90 second ad break and the telecast returns to the field; there's the kickoff, player A gets nicked, ankle tweak or stays down briefly and the booth very quickly returns to commercials. With another 60-90 second break to sell trucks or auto insurance, then back to the game just as trainers, staff step off the playing field.
Compare that vs. what telecasts were like 6 or 7 years ago. (some continuity) Fans and viewers would rather stay with the game, of course. Exhibit A proving that the fans aren't in the decision equation with the NFL and its sponsors.

No, not without losing an opportunity to fulfill their agreement with an advertiser.

Apparently so. But at some point it's overkill. You just drown it out.

I forget what game I watched from back in the 70s. But it was complete with commercials. I didn't mind because it was only a few. But once you get to 5-10 minutes of them, you tune them out.
