NFL Sunday Ticket

Anyways, point being its all who you talk to.lmk what happens.

This is so true. I've tried calling customer retention and threatening to cancel my DirecTV, but the guy I spoke to didn't care and didn't offer me any specials or discounts either. IOW, my bluff didn't work. Another time I called about something and the nice lady gave me two DVRs for free including installation. I also got free pay channels a couple of times. So it really does matter who you speak to.

lol.

I live in ny and last year 12 reg season cowboy games were on tv (cbs.nbc.fox,espn.nfl network)

14 games 2 years ago ..

yeah Ive been keeping track and counting the day's till fios is available in my neighborhood... (alternative is cablevision -worst ever .....ever..)

besides now that you can get the red zone channel on fios (and comcast .. not sure what others) there is no reason to have DTV anymore. i could always hit the bar for a rare boy's game that isn't on"free" tv .

Im in New York, I thought it was 13, and I learned how to stream and connect my pc to my tv so yeah, forget DTV

This will be my first full year out of Texas in a while and I am planning on getting Sunday ticket. I put my family first in pretty much everything and they all know that my one "vice" is to watch the Cowboys. I either get that, or I will be spending close to that at the Sports Bars.

Living in Albany, I get to see nearly every Cowboy game. If it isn't on, I always have the option to head for the pub w/ a friend. Not such a bad alternative.

$18.52 per week is what it breaks down to.

1/2 the price of a pay per view event and a lot less then has been tossed around if they go to a pay per game package.

Less then we spend on one trip to McDonalds or a movie.

Way less then I'm going to spend to go to bar to watch the game.

Just seems worth it to me.

I agree. I can spend 80 bucks on a weekend let alone 18.52 in a night with ease. I hate the cost as much as anyone but when you break it down I think most of us spend more than that going out to the movies or a night club

I guess I'm luckier than most; about a year ago a big storm destroyed our tower and antenna and a lightning strike fried our TV so we decided to try life without TV for a while. We could afford to put TVs in every room if we wanted to but we have enjoyed our lives without TV so much that we may never buy another one.

My wife's sister and her husband live in another house on our ranch and we drove the four miles via the state highway over to her house to watch the playoff game against the Vikings but it turned out to be a waste of time. It's actually only about a mile and a half cross-country but the highway is faster because of all the gates we would have to open and close and our road is a little rough in places, even with a high-clearance pickup.

I never cared much for TV anyway, the sounds it emitted made it too hard to concentrate on the Internet - now it's much better.

Life is good and it just keeps getting better.

I'm a happy camper now. :)

I'm a sucker, I'll pay it for the piece of mind I get knowing I wont have to worry about missing the game.

Unless you live on an island, there are sports bars that have every Dallas game. They would be insane not too.

I used to pay for the thievery as well. Now, I either suck it up and not watch the game, which is tough. Or, I will hit up the local tavern and watch it there.

I can't stand paying for TV as it is. And in no way in hell am I going to feed the NFL machine anymore then I have too.

I've seen at LEAST 10 to 12 Cowboys games in the Richmond, VA area per season since 2003 so I have no need for that garbage Direct TV is offering.

So you are getting it then?

I live in Virginia and if I paid this much for just a few Cowboys games each year I wouldn't feel it was worth it, either. However, I love it for being able to watch ALL of the NFL games each week. If the game on Fox or CBS is a dud I can switch to any other game.

It has increased my enjoyment of Sundays greatly.

This coming year will be the first year I consider not getting it. Of course, its only March. I may change my tune completely in 5 months.

That said, the rising cost is ridiculous. I remember the first year I got it maybe 8 years ago I paid less than 200. Now in less than a decade the price has increased to over $300?

The monetary figure isn't an issue, as being able to spend Sunday afternoons watching whatever game I want with my sons and friends is priceless.

Wait . . . I just talked myself into re-newing. Damnit.

I will pass on that option for sure....lol

$315, non-HD, non-extra special packages or whistles..

" take that, football fans. "

Sincerely:

Roger Goodell and Direct TV

Is that what it is going up to?

The last 3 years I been using it less and less. Of course we see all the games here. So I use it to watch other games when I'm home, which isn't much anymore.

But having season tickets, there are 8 times I barely use it. The other 8 games [away], I usually go to my bar to watch it anyway.

Also been thinking of getting rid of DTV. Tired of rain blocking the signal. Will go to ATT U-Verse. At least they carry the NFL Network.

I paid $139.99 the first year they offered it, now it costs almost that much just for the HD package. Crazy!

The first year they offered it, I paid $99. It was 1995. Right up until a couple of years ago, the price was a little high but reasonable $200, 5 payments of $40.00. Now, it's up to 7 payments of $45.00.

What I've done is cut down on the programming package that they offer. I started with the highest package last year, which was $99 for all the channels, including non-pay per view premiums. Right now, I'm down to the $63 package ( used to be $58, but they raised that too ). Next step is to go down to the cheapest package when/if they raise it again. After that, I'll just cancel my subscription and have it active only during the regular season ( September- December ).

After that, I'm done with Sunday Ticket and Direct TV.

Only $120 per year in Canada? Man the NFL must really think we here in the states are stupid charging us 300-400.

depends on cable company. He is back east so he has Rogers. I am out west so I have Shaw. Basically you have two main cable companies in this country west of Quebec.

I pay about 160 CDN for Sunday Ticket, 40 a month from Sept through December.

I called last year and said due to the economy, I can't pay $300 plus for the Sunday Ticket. What specials do you have?

They gave me the Ticket for $130 plus the HD channels.

I'm going to do the same thing this year. If they don't give me the cut-rate special, I'm canceling my subscription. I usually didn't get home in time to make it worth my while anyway. Unless the Cowboys games were on at 3 p.m./4 p.m., then I missed much of the first half anyway.

It's ridiculous that this thread keeps coming up because people don't realize that they are free to negotiate. They don't have to pay the set price, and really are foolish if they do. I've never paid for SuperFan, but I've had it every year it's been available. Like you I think I paid about $130 for everything last year.
