NFL to actually DROP the price of Sunday Ticket

I got DirecTV in 98 for the sole purpose of getting the Sunday Ticket so I could watch every Cowboys game.

Last year when they jacked up the price to a ridiculous level I ditched my entire DirecTV.

I had a guy build me a computer that rocks for streaming video and now i watch all my TV thru the computer. The money I saved from my monthly DirecTV and MLB and NFL packages paid for the computer and my new 60" LG Plasma TV.

Whatever games are not on broadcast TV I can find on several websites - as well as any NFL game. I havent missed any Cowboys games and I no longer pay for any TV subscriptions. For the same money, going into my 2nd yr w/o DirectRipOffTV I have a fast computer and a 60" Plasma TV.

Im quite sure Im not the only customer to leave DirecTV and Im quite sure Im not the only one who is never going back.

Why pay the $$ and support the gouging?

I'm not sure but I think a computer only package was roughly the same price as the whole package together.

Might have been more because they have to make up for not charging you for the box, HD fees and all that other stuff that goes along with it.
Exactly the same price. Full bore. And there were a lot of complaints, from what I read. I'd thought about going that way, but the price was TOO MUCH, from my point of view, so I didn't sign up. Gotta say, I'm glad I didn't.

I guess that's one way to look at it. I think that dissuades people from buying it since they feel like they are getting ripped off. Granted, there was one package before. Now there are two, one with online access, one without. I can see why they charge more for the online access along with the regular package. I just think you have to be a sucker to pay full price for half of the package. Unless, they don't advertise that you can pay the lower price just for the internet package. I suspect that might be an option. I'll contact them and report back tomorrow.

By the way, I will most like be a sucker.

Slingbox's work great if you have the upload speed to support them.

I highly recommend the Vulkano over the Slingbox. It is only $99 and has built in wifi unlike the Sling.

At a time everything relating to the NFL seems to be getting more and more expensive, one fairly significant aspect of the fan experience is getting cheaper.

According to Bloomberg.com, via SportsBusiness Daily, DirecTV will cut the price of its Sunday Ticket feature by more than 40 percent, to $199.95.

With fans being able to get games online for free and with all the added games on Thursday night AND with NFL RedZone offered on Dish for only $7 a month DTV had to lower the price. I'm sure they've lost quite a few subscribers with the increasing price every year and with all the other options available.

I found every Cowboys game online last year, but the site has been seized by the Government now. Firstrowsports. It was a pain to watch, laggy, 420p
but it was free, I paid about $1000 to go see them live in Washington though.
You could just save that $500 from Direct tv and buy a game ticket.

That's how I watched all of the games that weren't broadcasted here in NJ. There's other sites that still broadcast online but the quality sucks.

I'm at a loss over this. I can't imagine why they'd do it.

Sure, it's over priced. But so is everything. I'm stunned they would give fans a break.

They'll probably be less likely to offer discounts to fans who call to complain about the price and threaten to cancel.

In the past you haven't even had to do that. The last 3 years, i've called said the ticket is a bit expensive, anything you can do? Didn't threaten to do anything and they've given me pretty sizable discounts.

If you are at a loss then don't get it, do you have anything positive to say - ever?

This is probably to dissuade the thousands of calls they get to drop the price. Lots of lost productivity there IMO.

I'd expect haggling to be harder this year.

I'll probably roll with the $199 price and get the much cheaper NFL rewind to catch games I'd otherwise miss.

I switched to Direct TV about 3 years ago and I'll never look back. I've had good experiences and good customer service. I am more than happy to pay full boat for the Ticket, however, I'm also more than happy to see the price drop. I never really cared about RZC, the PC/Phone/Tablet I could take it or leave it, but I do like the 30 minute shorts. I DVR a crapload of those and watch the games through the week. I enjoy it. Well...money saved for all.

It depends on which person you talk to. Some don't offer anything. Some offer a discount and throw in extra stuff for free.

Wait, 199 doesn't include HD?

So you have to pay full price for the HD package?

Its now firstrowsports.eu

It works all the time.

Yeah, some of the video feeds arent great but some are decent.

I dropped Sunday Ticket last year....to start. Assumed most of the games would be broadcast on TV (about 90% were the previous 2 seasons) and anything not, I could go to a local sports bar. After 5 trips to the sports bar, I signed back up for the last half of the season. I think I'll get it again this year at this price (was spending too much on food and drinks :) ).

Oh, and someone mentioned wishing the had per game pricing. They do have per week pricing. Last season it was $45 I think. Doubt they ever go to individual games.

No, HD is included in the lower tier package.

Im waiting for the option to just get your teams games for cheaper. I don't care about most other teams, Just want to never miss a Cowboys game!

This.... They screwed the pooch ages ago when they decided to continue raising prices versus really revamping their price scheme to attract a greater variety of customers. I would easily buy all Dallas Cowboy games. I also am with WG in balking at the exclusion of the RZC in the new price scheme. Bush league planning that lacks creativity. Looking forward to the weekly meetups with the fellas at the season ticket showered watering hole again for the new year.

I have been a loyal subscriber of NFL Sunday Ticket since before my Directv days when I owned a big C-Band dish system. The price of the programming has not really bothered me because it has delivered me what it promises: unfettered access to televised Dallas Cowboys football. And that's a blessing when you live in 'conquered' New Orleans Saints territory. :)

Nope. My main issue with Directv was about their inability for providing local network affiliates AND preventing me from subscribing to distant network affiliates. They FINALLY corrected that injustice last year. So now, I'm a happy camper for sure. :p:
