If any of you get a chance to see the NFL's Top 100 Players on the NFL NW, check out Troy Aikman. It's on tonight...right now?

Pretty cool because Drew Bree's is telling some OG the stories. Brees was born in Dallas (moved to Austin at age 7) and grew up a huge Aikman fan. Turner was one of his early coaches, so got treated to a ton of Aikman film to see how it should be done.

Aikman was so ridiculously accurate...just pur passer. They just didn't throw it as much.
He still has the highest playoff completion rate of any QB in history.

A lot of great players in the NFL but I feel like Troy was better then 80. Maybe I'm a homer.

Thanks

It's odd to here Aikman toot his horn some. But 100% true.

Exactly what I was thinking. Never heard him defend himself like this. I'm glad he did.

i agree with you

the problem is, that team was so good, it is hard to give everyone the credit they truly deserve

the usual refrain is, aikman was good because of emmitt and the dominant OL
Emmitt made that OL great
The OL opened up huge holes for Emmitt so he was not that great

all circular arguments

i still feel that one of the reasons they dont get enough credit is becasue of 1994, that team could have been the only team in history to win 4 consecutive SBs if jimmy had stayed

think about it

then, there would be no question about the greatest team in NFL history

everyone would have had to give them the credit

unfortunately ego's got in the way

it is also a major reason i cant stand switzer

80 is likely fair. Aikman didn't put up the gawdy numbers many other qbs did because of emmitt, even though he could have ay the expense of winning. But with that being said, some qbs put up gawdy numbers and won.

Think about it. There's about 1,700 players in the NFL at any given time, multiplied by 80 years worth of rosters.

80 is pretty good.

I agree with you ABQ. There's not a lot of QBs on that list I'd take over Aikman.

Not sure where he should go but 80 is just too low.

I agree with a lot of that but some of the blame in that game falls squarely on Aikman. And I'm a huge fan.

Jimmy being around in 1994 would not have prevented Erik Williams from getting injured in a car accident, prevented Larry Allen from spraining his ankle and having to hobble through the game or Emmitt Smith being a non-factor due to pulling his hamstring late in the season.

Beat me to it

These are all on Youtube. Emmitt, Michael, Troy, Larry Allen...I can't remember who else. But the're there.

You want to see the greats...look for Roger, Bobby Hayes, Tony Dorsett...Then give the credit to the guy who really built the 90s Cowboys....Herschel Walker, Also give credit to Landry for finding most of that o-line. Tex Schram and Landry were going to draft Troy, after Landry was fired, Schram was the one who talked JJ into drafting Troy......Johnsons statement on Troy was "he was a loser in college and will always be a loser" if Johnson had his way Steve Walsh would have been the QB, also Johnson didn't want Emmitt, a scout talked JJ into them drafting him.

Well put. If Aikman is the 80th-ranked player out of, say, 100,000 NFL players, that's pretty good.

Watching some of those plays again after all those years gone by STILL gives me 'goosebumps'.

Love troy. He has been and always will be my favorite player in any sport. Class act. Loved his toughness and leadership.
