It’s not uncommon for a good offense to overcome a terrible defense. I can get you more examples if you’d like

I actually think the Vikings defense was covered up by their 25 turnovers and a really weak schedule that year. They were also one of the luckiest teams of all time that year. Didn't they set some sort of record for games won by less than a touchdown that season? And in a couple of them the other team did something monumentally stupid to hand them the game. They got blasted 40-3 by the Cowboys at home. That pretty much sums up who they really were.
