Oh to be a fly on the wall inside the Cowboys facilities, the stories you could most assuredly tell.....

Bowles was already in Miami when the HC gig in Dallas opened up. Then he was on the short list of people Jerry interviewed before taking the "interim" tag off of Garrett in 2011.

Very few first time HCs are going to install a first time DC who was a finalist for their job underneath them when putting together a staff.
