If there is a tie between 3 or more teams.....it goes by opponents winning percentage (strength of shedule).....the lower the winning percentage, the higher you pick.

The only time this doesn't apply is when a team makes the SB....That is why the Giants who have a worse record than a handful of other teams, gets to pick at 31.

GB had the weakest shedule of all the 13-3 teams.....they pick ahead of Dallas and Indy. Dallas picks next because their SOS was lower than Indy.

So Dallas picks 29.

There is a quirk in that process if you read the tie breaking procedure on nfl.com

I'm not here to argue I just really doubt all the major sports networks as well as many reputable draft sites as you can find all got it wrong.

49ers 13-3:D

The record is showing the original teams drafting spot. 49'ers were 5-11...Browns where 10-6....Colts 13-3. All of that is a IIRC but I'm almost sure thats right without looking the standings up.

Only thing I noticed right off the bat was our record and the Giants record but those have already been mentioned.

ok so we pick 28.....and I was wrong, but it wasn't my fault.

When the playoffs began I asked about draft rankings and based on how I believed when the playoffs started, I would have been saying 28 the entire time.

However, a few posters were able to convince me that it doesn't matter what you do in the playoffs, you get ranked based on record and strength of schedule, unless you make the SB.....

I knew there was a clause in there somewhere about advancing in the playoffs. I can't believe I allowed myself to be convinced otherwise earlier this season.....

I went from knowing I was right, to being convinced I was wrong, then believing that my new way of thinking was correct, only to find out that it was indeed wrong, and that my inititial way of thinking was actually right all along.

I feel better now.

Imagine if the NFL had a lottery for the non playoff teams the way the NBA does.......NE could have gotten the 1st pick this year....but so could have we

Welcome to Cowboyszone, where 80% of the people think they know what they are talking about, 2% know what they are talking about and 17% know just enough to sound like they know what they are talking about.

And 1% that notice invisible text.

Apologies to you. I thought for sure the SOS tiebreak was in effect based on record and it did not matter when you were eliminated in the playoffs with the exception of the Super Bowl.

No problem at all. Thought I understood, convinced I was wrong and thought I understood it again. It's been 2 years and I don't know if I ever will fully understand it.
