Just heard the Eagles were "really strongly after Doug Free last night".

Thankfully they lost out.

No one ever had a chance.

Jerry wasn't going to lose Free. No one else should have even wasted their time or breath.

At least it's nice to know that other teams think highly of him. Makes me feel a bit better.

Then I'm that much happier that he's still a Cowboy. Don't like the Eagles. Don't want Free blocking for the reformed dog killer.

Exactly right. I told people Free had no desire to go anywhere else. Jerry wanted him back. The hand wringing was funny though.

They may not have had a chance but going after Free was smart. If anything it had the chance of forcing the Cowboys to spend more on free than they might have otherwise, thus reducing how much they have available for other players.

It seems we still ended up with a good deal though.

and it's funny that many of the so-called football media experts labeled Free a "human turn-style" before the start of last season.

it is not official until Friday right? Adam Shcefter did reprot that teams can come in take FA away until they sign on the dotted line. He compared it college recuirts who give verbal committments but until they are sign to that school, they can go to other schools. I am pretty sure that Free won't go back on his word though.

nowhere in my post did I say he wasn't good or not worth what he was paid. In fact I meant the opposite and expressed how I found it humorous how little these media experts really know or how willing they are to bash anything Cowboys.

It wasn't funny. :( I had hoped we could keep him. I was in the camp of "Let's not overpay and get into a bidding war for Free", camp. :)

Glad he will stay.

I think he hit the "Quote" button on the wrong post. He was referring to the post above yours.

:laugh2:

Free is a good solid starting OT on the upswing. Any team needing OL help should've reached out to him. Not an elite guy but better than average. His versatility makes him even more valuable...

It would have been a good move for the Eagles. Get a productive player and hurt a division rival all at the same time.

If the Cowboys were "the team to beat" in the East, maybe the Eagles would have offered enough to make Jerry's knees buckle. We'll never know.

Makes you wonder if the Eagles were simply trying to drive up the cost to keep Free to make it harder for the Cowboys to sign other free agents like Nnamdi ..
