I'm having a draft party this weekend and there is a problem. Some of us like NFLN coverage of the draft and others like ESPN. I personally like NFLN because I think Mayock is just simply better than Kiper and I can't stand McShay. Just wanted some of your opinions on which one you will be watching and why.

I'll just switch between the two of them. I usually can't stomach either of their broadcasts for more than an hour at a time.

NFLN just because I hate ESPN.

I'm starting to get to that point. But NFLN just seems to run the same things over and over all day long.

ESPN on the background, the ticket from the PC, massive F5 spamming on forums, and draft room live stream from DC.com

you should hit the zone chat room.. it's usually jumping as well

I'm usually on the pc, and switching back and forth, tho I lean to NFLN more.

Zone chat room is always the best. Wouldn't be a good draft day without it.

NFLN hands down. McShay is an idiot, Kiper is an a**, plus you will have to listen to Chris "Larda**" Berman all day. Mayock is better than both and to me doesn't show a bias towards a team the way ESPN does. Second day of the draft all ESPN does is talk about the first day, they miss most of the picks.

ESPN sucks

Very true about ESPN's second day. I rarely see any analysis about the picks but I haven't watched NFLN second day. How is NFLN's?

Will probably switch FT to NFLN this yr but Tivo ESPN's coverage, that way we can fast forward through all of espn's b/s and just get the Cowboys stuff.

This is simple...and the best example of which is better is just look at the coverage of the 2nd day of the draft. 2nd day now is rounds 3 thru 7.
I throw a draft party every year for the first day of the draft. Last draft I had satellite so I had both NFLN and ESPN. Started off with ESPN and quicky turned the dial to NFLN. I never regretted it either.
However...the 2nd day I roll out of bed after sleeping late to turn on the 2nd day of coverage on NFLN. I am watching the first 5 minutes of the draft and I hear knocking on my door. "Who can this be at 10am in the morning" I am thinking. Open the door and it's a buddy of mine who has this worried look on his face. He says "I had to come over here ESPN is doing a round table discussion forum while the picks are going on!" I just laughed at let him in the door. ESPN has no clue...they are too busy trying to wow everyone with all the so-called experts they have. NFLN more meat and potatoes while ESPN is serving plates with a lot of color that looks pretty but leaves you hungry in the end.

I like the coverage on NFLN better than ESPN, I can't stand Keyshawn Johnson, what a freakin joke. He knows nothing about scouting college prospects, and his analysis is idiotic. I don't mind Kiper, I actually feel bad for him, having to sit with Keyshawn and Berman, one day he will kill himself midway through the 2nd round.

i like nfl network better, but what i do, since i have direct tv and dvr recorder i record both, then put them together on while switching back and forth between both during the draft

i also will and i have my own war room up, i have 18 posters up with draft picks etc on them, combine results and times, sleeper picks, gooses draft and coverage too. I also will have my radio on listening to norm on the ticket, with 103.5 too, so i will be geared up. With my computer on too. Along with my draft guides, etc. woohoo cant wait.

and a Do Not Disturb Sign on my Door.

Dang Joe, you are hardcore! :D

I no longer hang on every word and watch every second, as I am almost always disappointed by something/anxiously await Dallas' pick. I DVR both channels and fast forward w/out annoyance later in the evening. I now spend the day w/the wife and kids, much less stress that way and everyone is happy.

You sound like me! I have 4-5 draft magazines plus a powerpoint I made for one of my classes that has my list of the top 100 players with pictures, combine results and analysis on each player. I then have a wall set aside on which I place the players who get picked to see who is left when we pick. I get so excited for the draft.

NFLN is better than ESPN. The best coverage is on the radio though. Norm on the Ticket is the best in the business.

I don't get NFLN, so I'll watch ESPN and continue to want to slam my head into the wall after listening to Berman blabber on and put himself over time and time again.

The good thing about ESPN's draft coverage is Merril Hoge tells it like it is and is usually excellent at talking about the weaknesses and strengths of players and what obstacles they will have to overcome at the next level. Problem is that if Merril disagrees with Kiper (or anybody disagrees with Kiper for that matter), the talking hair-do takes over and ruins the show.

The greatest was when Kiper said that Mike Williams was the best player in the draft and raved about Leinart and Merril said he didn't think either was a first round pick. Kiper got owned again.

Mayock seems to be on the same level as Merril which is good. Unfortunately what NFLN and ESPN need is somebody like Gosselin or the late, great Joel Buchsbaum that has excellent sources as to what team is looking at what player and then have somebody like Mayock or Merril analyze the player so you the viewer gets the best of both worlds.
