Negotiating ploy. To be released or traded. Not that he wouldn't play for Vikings if he could. But knows a change of venue is best.
He may actually retire, to see if Vikings will release him. If not released, then get them to make a trade for a low round draft pick, and un-retire.

I don't think there is any question that they will release him. His base salary for 2015 is 12.75M.

Only if he produces at a very high level and can shoulder a huge work load. The Cowboys are currently working Murray harder this season(28.7 touches per game) than Peterson has ever been worked in any season of his career(24.3 touches per game is his career high).

Peterson also has the same "fumbling issue" that Murray has. Peterson had 5 fumbles in 2013 on 308 touches. Murray currently has 5 fumbles on 373 touches this season.

Cowboy in waiting. Dez and Murray will put us way over cap (from the last I saw) s we have to let one walk. AP(AD) would come here cheap which means Dez signs and AP replaces Murray.

Peterson will be cheaper than Murray, but he won't be cheap.

I both agree and disagree. First, what you said is true. He is a ten cent head on a $100M body.

Secondly, I think that he has a real point and there is value in it for him to walk away now provided he didn't blow all his money. First, the NFL acts very much like a dictatorship. Not only that, they don't even apply the dictatorship evenly. You never know how they will actually respond to a situation. They are extremely inconsistent. Having one of their biggest stars walk away saying the NFL is the reason he is leaving would be a HUGE blackeye to the NFL. Finally, walking away now would prevent further damage to his body would he will have to live with the rest of his life. If I were him, I would be taking that into account in my decision too. If he blacks the NFL's eye. He could be helping his current and future fellow athletes deal with the NFL in the future.

there's some truth to that, too. goodell has been abitrary.

but AP doesn't think he deserves *any* punishment.

as for his leverage, he has none -- especially when he talks like this. remember: jim brown left the game, and the game moved on. barry sanders left the game, and the game moved on. that is the starkest lesson: the players make the game, but only while they're in it.

if AP never plays another down, the league will still make money off his highlights... and 200 new players from the college ranks will keep cheeks in seats next year.

He's going to turn 30 in March and he wants to try out for the Olympics in track and field? What as a sprinter?

Peterson's son's cheeks are still too sore and "torn up" to sit in a seat.

Can't see anyone breaking the bank for an aging back who's missed almost the entire 2014 season and will be pushing 31 by the end of next season. Plus AP is still going through legal problems. He's talking retirement from the NFL because he knows there's not going to be much interest in an aging RB who's missed most of this season and is still dealing with legal issues.

Some of this is off topic; I apologize for that. I'm just ranting a bit here.

1. He should be angry. He is being excessively punished because of the Ray Rice incident. On the plus side I think he did get paid for most of the games he missed.

2. His comments on NFL and slavery were silly. I think most of the NFL and common public would agree on that.

3. I've heard Dan Gable speak on the politics and injustices of the Olympics. It is common thought that the Olympics are are played in a great world wide display of sportsmanship. They are not.

4. Jim Thorpe, arguably the greatest athlete ever, deserves to be recognized for his Olympic accomplishments.

If he puts on a star I don't know how anyone would be thrilled with a 30 year old back who has a ton of milage on them and will be replacing a 27 year old back who just reached their prime and was the Cowboys MVP in 2014.

I think they added his name to the list of "Olympic Champions" but never changed the official report of their results. I hope I'm wrong on that. Regardless, Go Cowboys! I want to see the eagles dominated today!

backs like Murray come and go..
This is Murray in his prime running behind a solid oline...and yet Adrian Peterson at 30 will still be faster, Stronger and have the vision Murray seems to lack.
