NFP.Com: Is Jerry Strapped For Cash?...

does anyone really know if he is personally strapped or not? Donald Trump had all kinds of buildings and investments but got in over his head and filed bankruptcy before. Owning assets and being wealthy don't always go hand in hand. The Stadium probably couldn't have been built at a worse time.

He is going cheap on coaches and if he is broke he doesn't want to pay Phillips and another coach. He doesn't want to pay Garrett, Phillips and another coach.

a Super Bowl win would do wonders for his bank account.

C'mon team! Let's do it for Jerry! His private jet is low on fuel!

He was pestering me for spare change when I exited the 7-11 this morning. Is that a bad sign?

I think a lot of his recent moves would support that he is hurting a little financially. He didn't fire a coach when the team clearly gave up on him (he still would have had to pay Wade his 2009 Salary), he traded down over and over again (lower picks have significantly smaller signing bonuses), he didn't get the Stadium sponsor he was counting on, and now we see that his payroll is 31st out of 32nd teams.

I know I'm biased so you might think I'm rooting for Jerry to be broke (I am) but I think if people can put down the kool-aid for just a second they might see some of the signs people are talking about.

Now, from everything I've read The Stadium is doing well, the Cowboys are still one of the top merchandise sellers in the league, and there are signs the economy is improving. If he gets that sponsor this off-season I'm sure he will be fine.

The salary cap straps Jones, not his pocket book.

Exactly

Not too many people realize that with several big salary spikes next season, if there is a new CBA, we're right against the cap even before we resign Ware.

Jerry's not broke and if this hack had researched the SALARY CAP, he'd realize why we didn't spend too much this season.

Yeesh.

He's not strapped.

But I have no doubt he's gunshy about spending money period right now. Anyone would be after spending the kind of money he dropped into the stadium.

I do believe wholeheartedly that one of the reasons he kept Phillips instead of firing him and hiring a big name coach was because he'd be on the hook for his salary if he did. Letting him coach out his contract makes fiscal sense, if not football sense.

Agreed.

Also, the credit crunch and the downturn in the Economy probably played a role as well.

Forbes when it estimated wealth of NFL teams put the Boys at around $1.4 Billion. It is estimated that Jerruh has $200-400 MILLION in liquid assets. So no he is not strapped for cash.
