It will be the same following every draft, I imagine. I will always be eager to see what the new talent has to offer, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It will take a combination of these guys to replace both Hatcher and Ware's production. And considering their production yielded less than stellar results, we have to hope they can actually improve on that production which is pretty ridiculous to hope for from this crop of rookies.

I don't mind getting my hopes up, I have nothing to lose I'm a fan I just who supports my team. I don't expect pro bowl performances what I do expect, is for guys who make the team to go out and hustle and to give it their all. I think they have a quality DC who will work hard to get the most out of them.

I think it's still a fairly pedestrian group. The good news is, we're deep in terms of pedestrians, and they ought to collectively play better than the guys we had to trot out last season.

I slightly agree with you, Idgit. I believe that, when used to their talents and placed in the right situations, Marinelli may be able to put together a solid unit.

It will take a heavy dose of Marinelli-Magic, but considering the offense is probably in the best shape it's been in since 2007, and the NFCE as a whole isn't exactly the powerhouse it used to be, it really isn't all that out of the question for the Cowboys to make the playoffs. That is where a young defense can either be a saving grace or a liability, depedent on how you choose to look at it.

As I have said before I don't expect a top 10 defense but given how poorly the unit played last season yet we still managed to go 5-1 vs NFC East and once again 8-8 missing playoffs on last sunday. I also do not put it all on players some does fall directly on the coaches. Games that we should not have lost yet did. I never go into any season hollering SB to the amazement of co workers who think all Cowboy fans live in the past and think they are SB bound. What I do think is this team has and will compete and have a shot at making post season and as you mentioned if you get hot in post season you have a chance.

Yeah, I think they're going to be better than we were last year. And there's an outside chance some of them might be more than just contributors. I like that we've got a bunch of ok players, rather than what we had last year, anyway. We talk about a defense only being as strong as it's weakest link...well, we upgraded a lot of weak DL links this week. They're still not all that strong, but they're stronger, anyway.

Tyron Crawford is essentially new too.
He missed all last year and has never played a real game snap in this defense.

I am so looking forward to the new look defense. I think they will be hungry like the wolf ... LOL. It's nice being young.

I'm with you on that. I think 2014 will be some growing pains since they are rookies, but I think we see a big jump in 2015. Bummer that Whaley looks to be IR'd this year with his torn ACL.

There will be some growing pains early, but I think by the end of the season the game should start to slow down for them and we'll start to see flashes of what they'll become in the future.

If we're good enough to get double-digit wins and get into the end of the season as the game starts to slow down for the rookies...we could do some damage if we're fortunate to make the postseason this year.

If you could interpret Duran Duran... in the early 80's... you've seen the sunlight in the 80's!:D

My friend, I am blessed to have seen several thousand sunrises before watching Duran Duran on MTV. Trust me. If, during a game, someone posts, "I ain't to proud to beg for a turnover here,"--rest assured I shall reply with a pic of The Temptations. ;):)

I wish we would have taken Caraun Reid in the 4th rather than that linebacker. I still think we got a good draft but would have been better with a Def. Tackle with our 4th. I think the 4th round pick was a Jerry pick. He likes to pick backups or projects in the middle round. I think the entire FO just gave Jerry a feebie pick so that feeds his ego and makes him feel like he knows what his doing. Other than that, I think we got really good value with what we got. They don't look to be all stars or probowlers. They look to be nothing more than solid contributors. Sometimes thats ok especially for an awfully putrid defense like ours.

I still don't see a lot of playmakers on that side of the ball, unfortunately. We might get some plays, if guys like Melton, Crawford, Lawrence, Wilcox, Claiborne, or Carter can step up. Each of those guys has the potential to be good. I do think we'll be more consistent. And I'm very curious to see whether or not we can continue with the positive turnover trend. That alone can more or break the postseason for Dallas next year.

The herd of pedestrians might slow the opposition down. Last years group of wheelchairs just amused them.

I think our D will be better, last yr Ware was hurt and slow especially to containing the outside. Hopefully we can contain Eli and his new toys as they are changing their entire offensive system...maybe a few more picks for Eli if that is possible after last yr.

Regardless of whether all of the negative nancy's want to agree to this or not, this group of DL that have been brought in since the team played last has WAY more potential than the street-mongers that had to be pulled in last year with no idea of any team scheme's...this young group (whoever makes the team) will have the pre-season to work together with RM and staff and learn how to play the game...that alone makes them better than the chaff that were brought in last season because of injury....

....I don't see a lot of the DL playing in the pro-bowl (mostly because they will be prepping for a bigger game :D), but there are some young, hungry guys in there topped off with a little seasoning (melton)...if cooked right, this DL could be quite tasty....
