Nick Collins, formerly of the Green Bay Packers and a 3 time Pro Bowler has expressed interest in returning to the NFL. He played 7 seasons in the NFL but his last season was 2011. He suffered a neck injury and retired due to that injury. I have no idea if he can pass a physical but if he is healthy enough to play, I wonder if he might be a guy who could help us? I would imagine that his contract would not be terrible, considering that he would be returning to the NFL from injury. Might be something to keep an eye on.

been out the league 2-3 years and approaching the wrong side of the 30, if it was up to me I'd pass

Not the premiere authority on all things Cowboys, but...

A player with an injury history?

The Cowboys will be all over that!!!

He may say he is healthy, but no team doctor is going to clear a guy who has had cervical neck fusion

Somebody needs to talk some sense into him while he can still walk away from the game.

Someone needs to pick the phone up. Worth a look. We need all the help at safety we can get.

Not necessarily true. Peyton had a fusion. Other players have had 1 to 2 levels fused.

Due diligence would at least merit a phone call, but he's older and has been out of the league for a while. There are other players out there, and there are players on the roster as well.

He wants to return but Drs have told hi, not to

I would give him a call and have everything checked out. By no means would I let any possible future with the Cowboys change off season plans for upgrading that position. Counting on him could be a big mistake if he fizzles early.

Wouldn't even kick the tires on a guy 2 years removed from the league who has an injury like his. Damn, how desperate are we?

Let's make an effort to get someone who's likely to get through a full season. Nick Collins? Probably not one.
