Nick Harris dropped a couple nuggets

They arent cutting him and admitting they wasted a 4th pick on him. The chance he is a positive contributore to this team are grim
They didn't waste pick 114 on Mingo. Saying it is a waste is just a fan narrative. He hasn't even played a down with Dak yet.

It's a fan narrative when its based on objective analysis. Mingo has been incredibly inefficient, amd actually regressed last year. Thats why Carolina was giving up on him in the first place. You are welcome to think that Prescott is going magic tonic, foolish as it is

I wouldn't count on him contributing. He has been incredibly inefficient so far in his career and it got worse once he got to Dallas.
Well, I think he isn't worth much, but reality he had Rush at QB and didn't know the offense. Based on how he played in Carolina he has a hard time picking up offenses.

The Mingo fans are hilarious. Why is he going to be so good here when he was beaten out by a spare undrafted FA last year at Carolina?

And then of course he did nothing here. Not even the star on the hat could help him.
Personally, I'd rather see Cropper.

Tet is a stud muffin and I'm glad to see the team had him ranked high.

And yeah... in round 6 and on, you are basically picking from Mingo level players anyway. Looking back at the draft recap, I wouldn't mind taking a shot on the Colorado WR, Lajohntay Westner. But that's about it. Trading a 4th for Mingo hurts though, cause I would have definitely taken Elic Ayomanor over him.

I wouldn't trade for Pickens either. If it was just a question of Pickens' talent vs his focus, I might take that gamble. But if he's going to want a fat, 4 year/$100M type contract to be a headcase, and you have to give up a 2nd... no way. That's just a bad bet.
I actually like Elijah Badger..

Objective analysis showed that he was playing with a terrible qb that couldn't get the ball to him. He did show that he can catch the ball and is probably the best blocking receiver on the team. The bottom line is that he will contribute which isn't bad for pick 114.

So if Mingo doesn’t have 80 catches,1000 yards, and 8 touchdowns you guys are going to think the trade is worthless. Once again the board is overvaluing a 4th round pick. Mingo just has to be a solid player that doesn’t bust assignments and make a few plays when Dak throws him the ball. It’s just comical that the Cowboys brought in at least 4 players from the draft that can make some noise next season but some are dwelling on that 4h round fantasy All-Pro that the Cowboys missed on.

The Cowboys will get that 2nd receiver before training camp I believe.
Based off of his career production and Car completely giving up on a 2nd round pick on a rookie deal do you have any confidence he’ll produce?

I think he will produce like a 4th round pick. Mingo will make some plays and help with the running game. It just seems some on the board expect him to be prime Cooper or he sucks. It’s a 4th round pick. Geez.

The problem is he’s already borderline a bust and we could’ve used a 4th round pick to try and get someone that will actually be good.

Would you rather have Mingo or have taken someone like Royals in the 4th? That’s a very, very easy decision for me.

If the Cowboys thought that much of Royals they would have drafted him. Obviously the Cowboys think Mingo is better than any receiver they could have had in the 4th round so that is really all that matters. Personally I think Mingo is better than Royals or any receiver they could have gotten in the 4th. Mingo is bigger and faster.

Mingo more likely to contribute this season than a 4th round rookie.

Either way, they're probably going to draft a WR early next year.
Possibly, yes, just depends on what the Cowboys would have actually targeted in round 4. Its not a very high probability round for sure, but I do think they had some better players to plug and play week 1 if they wanted to go DT or RB instead of the round 7 guys they picked up.

We will see though....honestly if the Cowboys end up adding another vet WR I'm not sure how much impact Mingo will really have this year. Given his size/speed combo you can absolutely get him on the field for special teams, but his usage as a receiver could be pretty slim.
