The owners, collectively, decide what a quarterback is worth. The player doesn’t dictate his compensation. The agents don’t dictate the compensation. The owners and their current circumstances, real or perceived, set the amount a player will be paid. The NFLPA’s counter to the owners’ demand for a salary cap is the specter of free agency. Jerry Jones is very aware of what Prescott could likely get as a free agent. Prescott’s agent, Todd France, is aware of that amount, as well. France and Jones both know the income potential outside of football activities the Cowboys’ starting quarterback can expect to enjoy. There exists an amount Dak Prescott will sign a contract with the Dallas Cowboys. Both parties have a general idea what that amount is. If and when Jerry Jones wants to pay it he will. The alternative to signing Dak is simply signing another quarterback to be QB1. “more than enough” is a fan’s perspective. It has nothing to do with the business of NFL football. The players face 32 ownership groups who are dedicated to “no amount of money is enough”. It is prudent to go to the negotiating table with the exact same philosophy.$47.5 million / year should be more than enough. Yes, Dak can get paid $8 - $10 million more / year somewhere else, but he won't get the extras ($$$$) off the field that he gets by simply wearing the Star on his helmet.
Stop being greedy, Dak. Jerry caved in and gave you what you wanted 3 years ago. Now it's your turn to return Jerry and the Cowboys the favor. If not, ...... BYE!!!
LOL! I can picture you saying that on your prom night! I kid!!
Ehhh...therefore only Mahomes and Stafford needs apply??QBs without a winning pedigree shouldn't be holding anyone hostage for mega dollar deals. $40 million dollars a year for Prescott should be more than enough. Any more than that is just player and agent greed.
2-5 in the playoffs. There are plenty of guys that have had more success.Ehhh...therefore only Mahomes and Stafford needs apply??
Dak Haters definition of winning pedigree needs to be investigated
There will be QBs available early in this year's draft.Dak is not irreplaceable, as are most players in the NFL; the Jones’ paid Dak to be a difference-maker, but thus far he has failed in that regard despite the simplification of the offense that requires him to do less.
Therefore, time to move on from Dak; use this season to get TL ready to play in 2025 and identify a QB to acquire in next year’s draft to develop.
The smart teams do this; the Cowboys were content to do no strategic planning at QB and never developed a succession plan…other than the acquisition of TL.
Do you realistically expect him to sign a contract for less than he would otherwise get from another team? He should go out and do his job to the best of his ability. If Jerry Jones wants Dak to remain with the Cowboys he’ll offer Dak a contract that makes that happen. Jerry Jones is not going to offer Dak Prescott more than he thinks Dak is worth. Dak Prescott is not going to agree to a contract for less than he thinks he’s worth. Do you see how the system works. And your threat to stop being a Cowboys fan is disingenuous. Everyone here at CZ knows you’ll continue to be a fan or you never were one to begin with.If we cave and give him $50+ million a year I cannot be a fan of his any longer. It's all about ego now for him. We cannot field a championship team with mediocre QB play while simultaneously paying them top dollar.
True, which is why Jerry is finally putting his foot down about overpaying his players...even if it hurts the team and costs a season or two or three. Gotta give Jerry some respect for finally standing firm against overpaying. The owners, collectively, decide what a quarterback is worth. The player doesn’t dictate his compensation. Man, I feel for you as when the chickens come home on Dak those emoils are going to be crying.Ehhh...therefore only Mahomes and Stafford needs apply??

I've felt for your failed Dak Hate Narratives since 2016 Draft Day Two...NOT!!!!Man, I feel for you as when the chickens come home on Dak those emoils are going to be crying.
GM Jethro screwed himself in the last deal and did nothing to prevent it from happening again. The Jones felt like they got screwed in the last deal, especially with the length of the contract. Dak can be replaced.
