Wait, it's only a 3 year deal or the first 3 years of a longer deal amount to 45 million?

28 mill guaranteed and John Clayton said something about if he plays the full 3rd year he could wind up getting the whole 45 million. the Raiders are the dumbest team when it comes to contracts these days.

They just gave Lechler 3ys/12 million...Chris Johnson 4 year/12 mil and now Nnamdi that contract!? Plus a 7th overall?

They were/are 4 million under the cap..I must suck at math because it just doesnt add up.

Asomugha is the BEST CB in football. Period. The guy was thrown at like what? 20 times total last year? That is what is insane.

CBs are pricey...the best CB is going to get an insane contract.

I'm not going to argue that Asomugha is great, however I don't know that I'd base it on times targetted. Every single one of the Raiders DBs were targetted very low because teams knew that Oakland could neither stop the run nor put up their own offensive points. Teams just didn't have to throw against the Raiders. Nnamdi went 4 years before he got his first INT and that year they targetted him bigtime, however he made them pay by defending passes or picking them off. For reference, Newman and Nnamdi were drafted the same year. Newman has 20 career INTs and Nnamdi has 10; Newman has 87 PD, Nnamdi has 52. Newman has played 15 fewer games. Like I said, Nnamdi is great but I don't know that I would label him as the best just because teams decided to run the ball rather than throw it.

My friend told me that it's what he's seen reported as well. 3 years for 45 million making him the highest paid DB in NFL history.

The salary cap is a joke if Al davis can just hand out contract like their candy..

They are only 4 mil under the cap and they give a punter, and two corners 70 mil over the next 3 years?? PLUS a 7th overall pick? How are they doing this?

Perhaps the first year is for basically nothing and the rest they are hoping for a uncapped years. Davis wants to try to win one before he dies.

The Raiders play plenty of man-to-man defense, from what I know, way more than Dallas was playing during the tenure of Newman. Man-to-man was almost unheard of when it came to Bill Parcells, and we didn't really start playing until Wade took over this defense. They also have been playing the Ryan mold of attacking defense, putting a lot of pressure on the CBs to cover their men in one-on-one situations.

Thought there was still a max escalation rule in the current contracts for the uncapped years.

It's 28.5 over the first TWO years..

So it's 5 million the first year and 23 the second year? In hoping theres a uncapped year? Please

Theres no way around this contract..I bet he gets at least 12 mil this year.
