I've never understood stuff like this. Why close your mind to anything? Especially quality literature. I just don't get it.

I agree with you on a lot of things Hos, I like your style. But if Blood Meridian is written by the same guy that wrote No Country For Old Men, then that's not quality literature. Sorry it just isn't.

Are you actually discrediting a book because you didn't like a movie that was based on another book written by the same author?

It was a very good movie. To those who didn't like it, give me an example of a recent "good" movie. Because I haven't seen many good movies lately.

You probably liked "Cloverfield" too, one of the biggest waste of film in history.

Why on earth would you assume that someone who liked NCFOM would like Cloverfield? They're not in the same class or genre.

Exactly, is that hard to understand? If his writing is anything like the movie (which most times a movies doesn't portray a book well). Then its literary garbage.

Because people that like bad movies like NCFOM usually like other movies that are just as bad if not worse.

There really can be no arguing of what or who the story is about, like any work of art, it depends on the points of view of the audience.

Agreed.

I've always felt that in "The Wizard of Oz", the story was about some teenager who killed a witch because she carelessly parked her house on top of her. I was really rooting for the wicked witch of the west, to pay her back something fierce, and get vengeance.

Sadly, Dorothy got away with the murder.

But I've heard others say that the true story in that movie was about "appreciating what you have, and there's no place like home". Hogwash. I contend that it was a story of payback.

But I guess its all in perception.

And yet that concept seems to still be lost on some who will argue that their opinion is not opinion, but rather, is actually fact.

Some might perceive that as arrogance. :)

Laugh all you want but if I was making a list of the worst movies of all time then NCFOM would be in the top 15 easily.

And I guess now everyone else should hate the movie because you didn't like it? I'm sorry I wasn't aware that you're opinion held such high regard but some how I imagine your opinion on movies means as much to the general public as anyone elses.

Not much at all.

The fact that you actually willingly sat down for nearly 2 hours to watch Paul Blart tells me that our taste in movies is wildly different and there's no point discussing the issue anymore.

I love movies. I'm willing to give just about everything a chance, and very rarely will I turn something off without finishing it. The only crap I won't touch is like Beverly Hills Taco Bell Dog, Hannah Montana, and the like.

Where exactly did I say you couldn't have an opinion? Where did I say you shouldn't have one? You passed if off as if the movie was trash and anyone who watched it, and liked it, probably liked other bad movies.

I didn't say you couldn't have your opinion. Nor did I claim no one else could. You just passed it off as if it meant so much more than anyone elses, as if your opinion was somehow the standard when it came to movies, that it was funny to me.

I believe I mentioned that it meant about as much as anyone elses (which would obviously include mine) but go ahead and continue to over-react and cry about it. I'll watch and laugh.

Zzactly.
No one seems to get my view that The Shining is really the story of a father just trying to reconnect with his son, only to have his hoped dashed by that vindictive ***** of a wife he kept around.
