No excuses for this offense!

The defense gave them a chance to win, Cowboy offense scores a TD the game is over. Also the drive before that defense made a stop and they go three and out.
The defense gave up 10 points in the last 5 minutes of the game. Let’s not pretend like they came through with some magical clutch performance.

The offense gave this team a chance to win…by putting up 31 points. The defense made it extremely difficult to win by allowing 34. It just gets spun because the defense is so bad we’ve lowered the bar.

You are just ignoring the entire remainder of the game and the fact that those stops only mattered because of how good the offense was

How many points is too many to give the offense a chance?

Kicking out of the endzone on the last kickoff was the dumbest decision of the GAME!!!!!!!!!!!

That decision gave the Raven’s a free play FROM the 35 yard line. 20-25 yards away from a game winning FG!!
With a team with very little pash rush and a seriously banged up secondary Shottenheiner should have never put the defense in that position.

Also, Vaughn Miller DID NOT CONTAIN the edge and Lamar Jackson easily rolled out to the right for the game winning completion. The D line needed to keep Jackson in the pocket. If he ran up the middle he needs to run 65 yards to score. Not happening.

Coaching malpractice in Dallas!!
you're right. I misspoke there. I confused it with the second out of bounds kickoff.

Defense was very short handed especially in the secondary, think did play well despite who was on the field

192 rushing yards isn't giving your offense every chance.

Leaving the opponents best WR wide open to lose the game isn't giving your offense every chance.

The defense has been garbage 3 weeks running.
Not making excuses for the season but gave them the ball and offense goes three and out the. They fail at 2 with first and goal

Doesn't matter.

Answer the question.

What is the threshold for how many points is too many to give the offense a chance?

To me it's about the situation, if your offense has the ball at the end of the game with a chance to win, they did their job.

So if your defense is on the field with 5 minutes to go given a 4 point lead and they give up an 11 play 60+ yard TD drive they did their job?

Answer the question. How many points?

To follow Thunder, if the Cowboys lead 7-6 and the opponent has the ball with 3 minutes left, the offense did their job?

Sure the Cowboys' offense scores a ton of points during games, but when the game is on the line they usually can't get it done.

Until this team figures out how to become better at situational football they will continue to fail.

The ability to execute in high--pressure game defining moments has defined this team for many years now.

I'm not trying to assign blame to any one person or unit here. It's a team wide issue.

Just one man's opinion.

Offense brought back every single starter, kept their playcallers and have just one key starter missing, although his backup Bass has a ton of starting experience. Add in all the cap resources on that side of the football, there is zero excuse for this offense coming up short time after time. I wrote a post prior to the season about this unit being overrated, they have done nothing to change my opinion.

Dak has had many chances to change the narrative for him not being an elite QB. However, can you remember any time he delivered a winning TD on their last drive? Now it isn't just him, year after year this team beat themselves with committing unforced mental mistakes. They usually led the league in penalties every year. Last week was a perfect example when Schoon commits a false start inside the 2.

It is fair to wonder if Schott and Dak are the one's to take us to the top. Once the Defense improves, what will their excuse be then?
Oh that's not true they have one giant excuse,

BAD DEFENSE!!!

Yet another terrible defense that's it that's the only excuse they need they shouldn't have to score 31 points to win a game but they definitely should have to win 34 points but not even 35!!!

Yep that excuse is bad defense bad defense more bad defense Yup that's three years in a row we've had a defense start like this 4th time index career Look I've had a historically bad defense I know this one is not in the books yet to be called that but it's headed that way if it doesn't get fixed we're going to lose a lot of gains because of the defense bad defense bad defense bad defense do I need to repeat myself the loan and only excuse they need is bad defense..

Greatest Show on Turf one of the best offenses ever assembled wouldn't have won those games had they had a bad defense I don't care how much points you think a team should put up your defense limits your possessions because they give up a lot of time of possession then they give up scores at the end of those possessions it all works together and comes to one conclusion bad defense is the excuse It is the reason It's the real reason it's not a made up one.

And frankly even when Peyton Manning one in with the Colts he said that was one big reason for that is the defense it wasn't great but it was the best defense he played with and that is why he got his title with the Colts that's a fact They needed to find a defense that was at least average like we're talking about here how about be around 16th in the league and I guarantee this offense wins a lot of games like it's allegedly supposed to.

I think we put too much into clutch performance when really it’s a matter of this team just playing to their abilities.

The 4th quarter of the Baltimore game is a perfect example. The cowboys “failed in the clutch” but overall they had 3 offensive drives…1 punt, 1 FG, 1 TD. This is completely consistent with their overall performance for the year. They scored over 50% of the time, and score TDs around 35% of all drives. Defensively we had 4 drives and gave up 1 TD and 1 FG out of those 4…allowing scores on 50% of drives is also completely consistent with their overall performance.

We focus on the when, but really it’s been the law of averages playing out.

Again take the names off the jerseys and ask yourself, if you offense is averaging 29 points a game in 3 games how many wins should the team have if the defense isn't a problem?

So I just watnt to make sure I know what I am seeing.

Did you agree the defense gave the offense a chance to win or didn't?

The defense ended Raven's possessions forcing a punt or turnover on downs 5 times.

The Ravens defense ended Cowboy's possessions forcing a punt or turnover on downs 3 times. They killed themselves on 2 other drives with a fumble and a blocked FG on a 59 yard attempt.

The Cowboys offense went 5-13 on 3rd down conversions.

Blaming the defense entirely on this loss is madness. I can't say terminal because it will never stop. lol

Prescott had five chances with the ball in his hands on two drives inside the ten yard line, and he didn't get it done. That was as big a reason for the loss as any of the other reasons for the loss.

Steele had three back to back plays where he single handedly killed a productive drive. Crazy that we cant find a tackle better than him. Players should be benched for stuff like this.

All that aside though, Dak is never going to be a championship QB, he doesnt have the mental makeup and im not even sure he cares all that much at this point. Lamb is an extremely talented prima dona that has the ability to dissappear and drop easy passes at key times. Our TEs are JAGs and Schoonmaker is a complete bust. No run game etc....

So you are now down playing "clutch".....when it's an historic descriptor thoughtout all of sports.

You're downplaying it because Dak couldn't do it. If he HAD..you'd be saying "look how CLUTCH Dak is".

Don't lie.

You're also acting like people are saying you can just move points around the board and it all adds up the same anyway. That's not what people are saying.
They are saying that Dak can move the ball and score points at certain times and situations of the game. But does SEEM to have trouble in those moments ...those TIMES....when we need him the most.

TBH....that is just an opinion. I'm in the process of trying to find THE STATS of it...since that seems to be the end game for most people. Just stats...and specific ones at that. Not even sure it will matter if I do find it. All heels dug in HARD.

If only we were adept enough to find a better replacement.
