from PFT:

LITTLE HOPE FOR CHRIS
Although ESPN's Len Pasquarelli has ranked Steelers safety Chris Hope as the No. 19 free agent available this offseason, Hope has yet to line up a single visit, even as other guys are criss-crossing the country in search of the big money that flows in the early days of the signing period.

So what's the problem? As one league source explained, "Hope has no one interested in him because all the teams get the films of all the games. He is slow, can't tackle, and he is dumb, all of the qualities that go into a big contract."

Ouch.

The fact that Hope has yet to even schedule a visit is significant in light of the fact that virtually every team was talking prior to Saturday at 12:01 a.m. to the guys in whom they had heavy interest. So the reality is that the 31 teams other than the Steelers haven't seen fit to include him in the game of musical chairs that, in early March, typically pays out more money than at any other time of the year.

PFT....what a joke. Chris Hope was a two time Academic All-American at Florida State.

I don't think he is "dumb".

My guess is that Hope's agent won't talk to PFT so Florio smears him.

Edit that to Mike Zimmer's wet dream and I'll agree.

For unknown reasons, our resident defensive coordinator has a phobia when it comes to free safeties.

We haven't had one on the team since George Teaugue retired.

That is pathetic.

Teague retired from the Boys? I thought he moved on as a free agent.

I dont understand why you guys dont like Archuleta.. I would love for us to get him with Roy Williams.

Um......................F*** No:mad:
Have you seen this guys GARBAGE stats

You just want him because of his name, well his stats are nothing at all!!!!!!

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235191

ONLY 3 INTS in 5 YEARS!!!!!!!!!
Yeah he cant get tackles, but he is making no plays on the ball at all, Roy had more interceptions in his rookie season than Archuleta has had his entire career. Forget Archuleta, bring in that FS from Kansas City Greg Wesley

This guy Wesley is an absolute ball hawk
http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187678

Wesley=26 INTS in 6 years
Archuleta-3 INTS in 5 years

Get WESLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess finding a free safety who can cover is the hardest thing to do in today's NFL.
That's what the Cowboys would lead you to believe.
These guy we have had in the last 3 yrs have been a joke.
That position is the least addressed on this team for the last 10yrs.
And now we will not be interested in the one guy at FS who would fit perfectly with Roy.
We need a guy who can run, make plays on the passes and not be a liability in tackling.
If not this guy then who?
Another washed up vet who has been kicked around the league?
No thanks.
For once can we get a guy at that position who can make plays?
We need more than a glorified sp. teams role player back there.

That washed up guy that we are trying to pursue is 10 yr vet Marcus Coleman of the Houston Texans, which really pisses me off. I couldnt agree more with this post, 100% agreed, we need a f****n FS Chris Hope or Greg Wesley would be perfect fits to play with Roy. Wesley has 26 INTS in only 6 years in the league. Hope is a hard hitting playmaker, and we need to bring him in.

Hope will resign with the Steelers so that is why there isn't any interest from other teams. Besides, he is due a decent payday (ok he wants major $$$) and most teams don't want to spend that kind of money at FS.

Greg Wesley? You ever see him play? Look beyond the numbers on him.

I'd have interest in Bart Scott.

As for Hope, I think he's going to ask for too much money. Much more than we're going to dish out.

He can ask, I don't think he'll get it.

Free safeties aren't valued league wide.

Dwight Smith was a superior player to Hope last year and got a $3.5 million SB. I'd sign Hope for that and thats about where I expect he lands.

Bart Scott off the market.

I don't care what teams pay FS. Its killing US YEAR OVER YEAR. We have $20M Cap unspent watching all the players sign elsewhere.

But we have Foose ball in 2006!

I wouldn't touch Wesley with a 100 ft. pole. Nor whould anyone who has seen him play much. Chiefs safeties have been horrible the last few years.

I think Hope is probably over pricing himself coming off the Superbowl win, but isn't that impressive when you breakdown his film. He may go back to the Steelers, but they're not exactly putting the full court press on him by any means. He wants to be this year's Larry Brown or Dexter Jackson.

Don't worry it's panic button reaction. We will not be signing Wesley.

Hope doesn't yet realize he can't take the Steelers front seven with him wherever he lands.

If we want a veteran free safety, it will likely be FOB Marcus Coleman, IMO.

He could start this year and then hand the spot over to whoever we draft this April in 2007.

Sounds like somebody Snyder would want.
