NO INTEREST in Jason Garrett

What's real funny is that 3 NFL teams and management have decided Garrett is worth looking at as a head coach and recliner-riders here think he is worthless...

Wonder who I should believe?

Honestly, I think it's pretty obvious what the OP meant.

He meant there's been no interest in Garrett beyond his interviews; i.e., he's not making teams' short lists.
That's obvious???

I think obvious would be the all caps "NO INTEREST" in the thread title. If it's obvious that the OP didn't mean what he actually said, I guess I don't know the meaning of obvious.

Didn't we have an epic thread in here about saying what you mean last summer?

I see it in this forum year round to be honest.

Then why do you pop in and ***** about it? Seems like you are beating a dead horse yourself there.

To come to that conclusion, I'm making what I think is a fairly safe assumption. That is, he knows Garrett has been interviewed.

If you assume that, then yes, it's obvious what he meant in my opinion.

So Wade's defense was pretty good, but JG's offense was not very good, and we want him running the whole team? Makes sense.

Yeah, It makes PERFECT sense. :lmao2:

Contrary to some's beliefs, the fact that Garrett interviewed for 3 jobs this year speaks volumes about his credentials.

Whether he gets a job or not.

The difference is that he was OFFERED 2 coaching JOBS last year.

This year, he just INTERVIEWED for jobs. Guess What....No interest.
(Still hoping he leaves)

The young OC from the Patriots GOT the Broncos JOB cause his offensive scheme worked for more than ONE year. BTW, The Pats won their last game of the year.

He helped M. Cassell become a hot commodity. What did Jason do THIS YEAR?

Yeah, the guys who get 5 interviews and two offers their first two years in the league as coordinators tend to not be all that highly thought of. Clearly his career as the highest paying coordinator in football is going nowhere.

If he'd just stop coordinating fumbles and negative plays, can you imagine how good this offense would be?

I would not say "NO INTEREST", cleary the fact that he is being asked to interview shows "SOME INTEREST".

I think the larger question is that when he interviewed last year, he was offered the job immediately by 2 teams (Ravens and Falcons), but this year he is not getting any offers after his interviews.

So the question is why???

Cleary Tecmo's outstanding play calling might have something to do with it.

I am sure most teams are asking him this basic question, "So Garrett, tell me why with all those weapons in Dallas that you had the team could barely manage a freaking first down"

It's a shame that people STILL want Garrett as a Dallas HC.

That's silly. He'd called all of his plays before they even invited him for an interview.

The difference between now and last year is that 1. he's now the highest paid assistant in the game--with a salary that's higher than that of a lot of HC positions, and 2. he's not the hot commodity he was last year, so his hiring won't be greeted as warmly by a local fan base.

If anything, he's more experienced this year and has been through the interview process repeatedly. He's a better candidate than he was before. And how many assistants were in consideration for 3 open HC gigs, anyway? Can we please not make a positive assessment of Garrett's abilities into a negative? Aren't there enough serious problems with the team to be concerned about?

BINGO, I THINK WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!

Why exactly is he not the hot commodity he was last year???

Why would his hiring not be greeted by the local fan base???

Could it be that his playcalling and the significant decrease in offensive production has something to do with it???

Absolutely. The average fan will look at the decreased production and assume the play calling was responsible.

How can it be obvious when you have to make an assumption to get to the meaning you think it has?

What is obvious is what it says without making assumptions. If you have to make an assumption to get to the meaning, then it can't be obvious.

I would be very very shocked if Garrett got either vacancy.

What got him the jobs last year is that he still had the genius label and he talks a very very good game. This year, he did not have the season to fall back on and if an interviewer is worth their salt, they'll see past the veneer and probably challenge him to answer some questions about why the performance went down.

Devaney likes him on a personal level, so that's a big reason why he's in the running in St. Louis. He did not go from genius to dunce overnight and his reputation is far better in NFL circles than it is for a very angry fanbase. But this idea that teams feel just as excited about him as they did last year is amusing to say the least. It hurt him a little and he will have to redeem himself if he wants to be as highly sought after as he was last year. This is a very fleeting and reactionary business. That's why he was probably a little hasty in turning down not one but two job opportunities last year.

Good Points.

Garrett seemed hasty last year, but this year he seems desperate.

I'm shocked he's not interviewing for the Raiders job.

If Garrett comes back he's got alot to prove to Jerry, his offensive players, and the fans. Good luck, Jason.

some of our loser players have alot more to prove than he does...things like showing they know the damn plays, know how to tackle, block the right guys, can avoid stupid turnovers, can hold onto the damn ball, can stop blowing coverages etc etc
