I dont want him, and those that do, are seriouilsy imparired. Green had two good season, and after this injury there is no surety that he will be just as good. With ther state of the PAckers offense, if they are willing to cut loose Green, why would you want us to pick him up.

Basically for the slow ones, if i cant make a cellar team's roster, why would you want him in Dallas, where you have three young guys who all can play (not even counting summers)?

There are a lot of "ifs" involved, but it'd be dumb to outright dismiss it.

If Green is healthy....or would be healthy at some point in the season....he'd be a good add for the team.

He has had more than two good seasons. He is only 29 and basically didn't see the field much his first two years.

He is a proven veteran. Do I need to remind you that Dallas doesn't have a single back who has had a 1000 yard season? A 1000 yard season is an average of 62.5 yards per game and Dallas doesn't have a single guy that has proven he can do that. Green has done it five times.

Saying Dallas three young guys who can all play isn't entirely correct. They have two guys that look like they might have an NFL career. They have one guy that runs fast and one guy that was cut from his college team and showed up late for his first day of work.

I seriously doubt the Packers cut either of them anyway. If they did, I think there would be a line up for his services. Houston, KC and Miami would probably all be in line.

Dallas is moving away from using fullbacks, and we have at least four TE's that will make the team. I don't see why they should keep a single fullback when they are very squeezed at WR.

Yes green did it when he was playing good, but again, you missed a another point of mine, Who is to say how Green will come off of this injuy, will he be the same pro-bowler he was a few years ago, will he have the same game. 2nd Why bring him in, when you have young stars in JJ, Barber, and Thomson, we have way to much need for spots at other postions to bring in 4 RB. And again, if he isnt good enough for the Packers, who are dreadful on Offense, why would he be good enough for us?

And you missed all my point.

I wouldn't pay him much. The injury is a concern.

Who says Jones, Barber and Thompson are "young stars"? Young stars can usually average 62.5 ypg. Jones and Barber have some potential, but haven't proven anything yet. Thompson is fast....and that is all he has shown. I'd have no qualms about sending what might end up being ReShard Lee II packing if a guy like Green came in and outplayed him in camp.

The Packers are rebuilding. They don't really have a need for vet insurance and, like I said before, I doubt he gets cut anyway.

Again you want to waste money and a roster spot for a guy that is fresh of an injury, just because what? you want vet insurance, please if the packers cut him Green has no reason to come here, and we have no reason to entertain him. We dont need Vet insurance at the RB postion, cause even when JJ went down our OL still stunk.

i'd take Green as we are gonna need another RB to share the carries with Barber when Jones gets hurt. Also never hurts to sign a player that is motivated to show his former team that he can still be very good when they think the player is done

 Brilliant observations.

As I stated before, IF he was healthy and IF he didn't command a high salary (which he shouldn't....his current salary is just over $1 million), I'd try to bring him in. I think many other teams would as well. If there is a market for Micheal Bennett, there would be a market for Ahman Green.

So, you are saying if Jones goes down, Dallas should just quit running the ball because the OL stinks anyway? Great idea.

A healthy Ahman Green is probably an upgrade over every RB on the Cowboys roster right now. I'd definitely take him over a third back with no moves like Thompson or a big HB/TE hybrid like Polite.

Like I said numerous times, I doubt GB cuts him. If they do, its because they like what they see out of their young backs (Gado and Herron) and Davenport appears healthy.

No im not, i was saying that Barber proved to be fina backup for JJ when he went down, and again, my whole problem and you keep missing is who do you cut for Green?

Barber younger, better (IMO)
JJ umm starter need i say else
TT- return speacilist and this kid can run

So again, who do you cut for him. To me he's not worth the money or the Roster spot when i see no problem with current set of RB's we have

And those are to very big if's and then on the last one there is really nos ure way of knowing how healthy he is untill you've signed him and cut people to keep him and then he gets hurt.

I said I'd cut Thompson (that was the ReShard Lee comment). He has shown he is fast....he has also shown he has no moves what so ever. Straight line speed isn't enough in the NFL. Fast, undrafted free agents aren't that important. Dallas also has other options in the return game this year. Classic case of Cowboys homerism overinflating the value of a player.

You don't have to cut anyone if it is early enough in camp. You can get a look before you make that decision.

The only problem that I have seen with the current set of backs is that there isn't one that has proven he can perform consistently in the backfield. I'd be shocked if Marion Barber ever gets 1800 yards and 15 TDs in a season.

He can stay away any time.

Yes he can stay away. Without having read through all the posts yet. I hope this doesn't turn into a "let's bring him in to mentor JJ" thread. I could see it before I clicked on the link.
