I believe Porter would've been a "waste" that was worth it. If you don't want him on the left, move him around left, right, inside, I'm sure he could handle it, I'd rather have him than Bradie "where's my guy" James, whom we really wasted money on.
He certainly would have been a waste. If you can't see that, oh well.

OK that's someone trying to murder him, not him being the murder so I can be a bit more forgiving to him on that, he just needs to stay outta bad places. But if they did cut KD that wouldn't be any huge loss, big deal, he can't cover anybody either, unless it's a kickoff.

Porter is who I wanted the Cowboys to sign, but I guess Jerry didn't want someone who could actually play.

BTW Porter hasn't been involved in any murders, has he?:D
Remember, Ireland has something to do with the evaluation of free agents. Stop spewing your anti-Jerry BS. Not EVERYTHING is his freakin fault.

I can't see Porter being a waste either. I am sure Wade could fine some sort of use for him, even if it meant sliding him inside and sitting James on the bench. Care to explain your way of thinking?

We have 3 young linebackers that need to develop and get on the field. Cutting into their playing time, however you used Porter, would be a colossal mistake. It would have been a waste of money, time, draft picks, and effort. Complete waste. This should be totally obvious.

I think you underestimate the mentoring Porter could do for those young linebackers and the whole defense, which would help them all in various ways, kinda what Haley did for our young pass rushers in the early 90s, when he was in his early 30s, I think that turned out pretty good, remember? Now I understand they rotate the D-line and all, but still nothing wrong with having a vet like Porter, who plays linebacker the way it's supposed to be played, and in the same system.

I'm all for playing young players, but I'm also all for having SOME mixture of veteran leadership with those young players. I think you're just looking at the tangible aspects of having him, money, roster spots, playing time for the youngsters, but underestimating the intangibles he can provide, and will provide for Miami.

You say it would be a COLOSSAL mistake, well that's goin' off the deep end a bit. It would've been IMO a COLOSSAL benefit/addition.:)

I still don't understand why Jethro didn't draft him in the first place, who did he draft instead? Soloman Page? I think? C'mon.

All 4 of our starting linebackers are veterans (3+ years in the league). One is a 9 year veteran. What the hell are you talking about? Have you ever seen those ESPN commercials about guys talking our of their arse?

That's you.

Dude pay attention to you're own posts.

On top of that there's no guarantee Ellis will what he was, which was OK but not great, after his achilles injury.

I knew you couldn't handle disagreeing on a mature level for very long. You don't seem to handle folks disagreeing with you very well, especially when they have legit reasons, you're pretty closed minded, bud. I feel for ya!

My entire point has that we need to get young talent on the field. You said we needed veteran leadership. I said we have it.

Seriously, is the conversation that hard to follow?

OK, we have vets, but are they leaders. One of the main things this D has lacked is good veteran leadership, one of the intangible factors in their collapse last year, they need a player or two or three who will hold the entire D and themselves accountable, get in guys faces and tell them to get their job done. Past examples of that were Haley, Norton, J. Washington, just to name a few.

Do the Cowboys have vet leaders like that now? You could say Ellis (maybe), but who else?

Oh gosh, now we need "leaders." Give me a break. Tell me again, which player got into other players' faces on the Indy defense? Chicago defense?

You're grasping for every last possible straw to support your feeble statement. Good luck with that.

Oh well, I guess when YOU sir don't have any meaningful debate or know when you've been taken to the wood shed you get mighty defensive and resort to personal attacks, which doesn't show you have much credibility. I've tried to take the high road with you in stating my thoughts. So, good luck to you sir, with that. Good day, I'm done with ya!

BTW I love how you FINALLY decided to respond after I logged off, maybe a coincidence but I doubt it. Probably more like you wanted the last word without having to deal with me! Seems kinda cowardly.

Taken to the woodshed? Yeah, you've been mighty convincing that we needed to grab Joey Porter, the savior of our defense.

Some of us do have other things to do. But yeah, I can see how it was reasonable to assume that I sat here and waited for you to go off-line before I responded.
