No more laterals, Mike Jenkins

Mike Jenkins played a terrible game. His second INT partly redeemed an otherwise craptastic performance.

You're just nuts.

Jenkins will never do that again - lesson learned but why was TNew encouraging it? That bothers me more.

I know, my critical comments here are usually universally condemned. Used to it. Don't care.

That said, to my eyes, Jenkins was the one mistake-prone player I noticed in this game.

He gave up more than one good gainer, slipped a few times, lost that first INT when he should have gone to the ground, and was responsible for one penalty that I can recall.

You need new glasses. Two players had big issues today - both from not focusing and causing us costly penalties:

1. Witten (who I forgive because he did a lot to make up for it).
2. Hamlin who made some really, really dumb decisions today.

I don't want to hear that it was a simple mistake or that the game was over. It was a dumb mistake. One that could change a game, if done at the wrong time or place.

But, it didn't happen at the wrong time or place. Y'all need to cut that dude some slack. Why don't you rethink the year he has had and where we would be if he didn't take that next step and come off of that ledge.

They were trying to make a play. And most fans on here wanted to BURY the Eagles. What the hell do you think the players wanted to do after 44-6? I'm really starting to think alot of you never played football and I'm not even trying to be a ******** about that.

Saying it was a dumb mistake (which it WAS), has nothing to do with, and is no reflection on what kind of year he had.

It does when you are *****ing about something that happened with a 20 point lead. Much more stupid is Wittens penalties which I don't see any threads about.

I give him a pass on it (although I was swearing at the TV when he did it), because I truly feel had the score been much closer than it was he wouldn't have done it.

Every single man, woman, and child in that stadium knew the Cowboys were well on their way to the franchise's biggest win in 13 years. He probably thought "why the hell not".

did anyone else see the play where mike jenkins picked off two passes last night, made several other eye popping PDs oh and WE WON A PLAYOFF GAME LAST NIGHT

that was so awesome.

Uh - they could have had a 50 point lead - it was still NOT the thing to do. Pretty simple concept - or so I thought.

Basically.

I think it was Ratliff who jerked Jenkins up by his shoulder pads and read him the riot act after that play. Jenkins won't try that again. Not if he's half as smart as I think he is.

I was pissed when he did it but I look at it as a natural instinct of a player who doesn't have alot of experience with the ball in his hand. He knows he's about to be tackled and sees Newman standing right beside with his arms out basically calling for the ball. The good part about it is thats its on film. It will now be drilled in his head even more to get what you can after an Int but just go down when its time and make sure you keep possession. Its no big deal at all. If he does it again, then maybe it is because he will prove he doesn't learn from mistakes. He has taken such a monumental leap forward this year that I have no doubt he learned his lesson and doesn't want that to happen ever again.

This is not backyard football. That really pissed me off, sir.

Then Blame Newman. Looked like he was the one asking for it. Oh & the ball got knocked loose, it wasn't lateraled.

in the heat of the moment with a 20 point lead in the biggest win that the Boys have had in 13 years, I can forgive them losing their common sense on one play.

Me and my friend were wondering wth he was thinking. But my homeristic reaction is this:

He made the boneheaded decision with, what, a 20 or 27 point lead? But he'll never make that lateral again. And you know what, had he not made it tonight, maybe he inexplicably makes it next week in a tight game. I think it turns out to be a nice lesson learned in a spot where we didn't lose anything by him learning it.

My two cents.

Discipline is a pretty simple concept to embrace,Sarge, but oh so hard for some to grasp. Lord knows over the past few years we've had our share of 'un-discipline'. I think there are some on this team now,i.e. Brooking, who will have a few words with the 'un-disciplined'.

The lateral didn't cost us anything, but it was still stupid.

We're going to need to cut out ALL the stupid penalties, near INT's, and stupid plays to beat Minny.

Favre and Peterson will make us pay for this nonsense.

after watching the replay back at home i think a veteran like tnew would have done better.
