No need for a trade

I feel our 2 biggest needs are WR and DT/NG to help with run game. If that's the case do our best to bring in Suh and OBJ ( hate to have to add OBJ due to the fact he is a guy I never would want on team) but if he can help us win a SB lets do it. We give up no draft capital and we get two very good players in return with veteran experience and Super Bowl winners.

Yep, good post.
Good choices and logic behind you're choosing. Stephen would need to convince both to one year deals first. Then with the available cap he could pay them while adding a few incentives.

This type of move would at least prove they were serious about wanting to win this year.

It's probably a longshot but I wouldn't mind seeing Denzel Mims getting a shot at becoming a WR for us. I think he's about as good as anyone on our current wr corps. He'd also likely be quite affordable, as well.
Problem is the jets want at least a 3rd for him

I also read it could go up to a 3rd based on 500+ yards receiving.

I can’t imagine a single team wouldn’t happily send the 3rd or 4th

I read a while back that they might consider less, now. It was over 3 wks. ago that they refused accepting a 4th rounder. It's been a while; might they consider it more seriously? It may be worth a try for a player trade, even. Actually, I can't really see Stephen offering more than a 5th rounder for Mims.

If they could get a dominant 1 like Brown from Carolina that they’d have for the next few seasons I think that would take the D to the next level. Who knows what sui has left.

It’s his first week active this week after 6 weeks inactive. It took Elijah Moore complaining for him to get snaps.

It really makes zero sense for them to keep Mims.

Cowboys will not add anymore salary if they can help it. They want to carry over the open cap space to next year. Unless there is a major injury what they have now is what they will go with.

Yeah, seems like the Jets are always stubborn about trade talks. They stall as long as possible.

We'll get so see Mims play this week. Moore won't be with the team until Monday. I guess they're punishing him.

Some good points here:

-Think they want to lessen the load of Lve/Barr cause of their injury histories. Rotating in Clark will keep those two fresh and won't ware them down.
-If Tyron does return, which is a big if, the OL would get a massive upgrade as Tyler would move back inside at Guard.
-I agree, Quinn/MM want to create chaos with their pass rush. Think stopping the run is more about executing their scheme then it is from the personnel standpoint this season.
Tyron has likely already played his last snap for the Cowboys.

Because those guys want to be paid like their superstars.

They both have rings so they won’t come for just a shot at a ring. OBJ will sign with Green Bay or another contender for more then we paid all of our free agents combined.

The reason you trade for a guy like Mims, Claypool, Brown is they are cheap for 2-3 years
Not sure GB is any more of a conteder than Dallas, but the NFC is a bit weak anyway.

Here are some possible destinations for him
  • Chiefs (Mahomes..Mahomes..Mahomes..seems ideal)
  • Bills (have Allen and space and him paired with Allen/Davis would be insane)
  • Bucs (Brady is a FA magnet...depending on injuries)
  • Packers (Rodgers sure could use him, but they let Adams walk so I dont see them paying)
  • Rams (just because he prefers LA, not b/c they are big contenders with that weak line)
  • Vikings (kind of similar to the Bills in that he would not be the focus....Viking are contenders, imo)

Would step in as WR3 with upside

Only thing I’d consider at this point is a true 1T like Brown from Carolina. He will be cheap for 2 years and will help with the run tremendously.

if you could nab a guy like that for a 3rd or even trade out one of your 35 3Ts like Gallimore I would take that

The Cowboys want a more balanced attack, play more 12 personnel where there are only 2 receivers on the field. Lamb/Gallup are fine. Shultz being back should also help the pass game. Let's also not forget Washington will return at some point and they still could use Turpin in the slot.

I wanted Travis Jones in the draft to shore up our NT position, but this season, in my opinion, most big runs are more to the outside. Teams are taking advantage of the Cowboys aggressiveness and scheme. Quinn likes to run all those twists and stunts that take players out of position and he likes to play 3 safeties on the field, which is easier to run against. Bohanna has played well this year up the middle, many big runs have happened to the right side on the outside, not up the middle.
I was a big fan of DT Travis Jones in the draft.
Side Note: Jones, Tyler Smith and pre-surgery Damone Clark were my favorite players in the draft. Physically Sam Williams was top 5 for me but I was not certain about his character issues.

A DT would not help unless it is a dominant player. No teams are likely to part with a Veta Via type player.

If Suh had much remaining in the tank he would be on a team already.

Same concept with WR. It would need to be a top tier player to really help. Can we get Justin Jefferson for a mid round pick...

I agree that any problems stopping the run have been primarily outside and from snaps when DL were out of position due to stunting because they were playing to rush the passer when the opponent opted to run.

Each time I review stats and game footage, I keep coming back to the Cowboys offense not consistently running the ball and not consistently pass blocking.

In the 2022 game 1 loss and the playoff game vs the Niners, pass blocking was a problem and they only rushed for 71 and 77 yards in those games.

Statistically they win over 90% of Dak's starts if they rush for more than 100 yards. In 2021 they won 100% when they rushed for over 100 yards.

Pass blocking has improved since game 1 but at least one of the INTs vs the Eagles was due to the pass rusher impeding the throw by Rush.

For 2024 RB has to be a target in the draft.

Pollard is a free agent. He is a good player but I don't know if he is consistent enough to be worth a significant contract.

Zeke is far too expensive.

You mean a first a or multiple high picks to get him
