No Need to Panic!

This is why we don't need to panic:

Look at the rest of our division. In the end the first goal is to get to the playoffs and the easiest way to do that is to win our division.

Washington 1-1
Philly 1-1
Giants (soon to be) 1-1

Philly barely beat the Lions, Washington we can split with no doubt, and Giants they barely beat the Panthers and it looks like they'll get blown out as I type this thread.

Yes we're 0-2 but IF we can get our stuff together and stop making stupid turnovers and mistakes, ie. late half fumble & idiotic squib kick, then we'll be fine and can easily catch up to our division. If one of our division rivals was 2-0 I might be in panic mode, but we have the talent to catch up to them (just need to coaching to). I admit 0-2 to these two teams wasn't ideal but we've come back from worse and there are 14 games left for us to get it in gear, starting with the Texans (who had to go to overtime to beat the Skins that only offensively scored 6 on us). We got this in the bag fellas, no need to panic (save that for next week if we go 0-3).

Yeah, but if we don't get homefield in the playoffs, which you can pretty much kiss goodbye now, then it will be tough to get any further than the divisional round again.

Chances are we will either go to green bay or new orleans if things play out as planned. But who knows. Way too early to start thinking about who will get homefield.

We can still easily win our division. But we are going to have to completely turn it around to be any type of contender this year

This is what we said in the preseason, and then after the first game...

I agree we have a long way to go yet so there's no reason to panic. From our perspective.

But I would like to see the players show a bit of panic. They look like they walk on the field and the game's over already. They act like they'll just out talent the other team. This team is way too overconfident and for no good reason

Time to Panic? That was little bit of it last week. This week, it almost time to think if the season is over. Next week they lose, I bet most will be ready to give up on the season. Its not that its 0-2 start, but how they have played and seemingly regressed even on D.

Personally, I am going to let it play without any expectations. But then my season prediction was that this season will be derailed because of injuries. Did think they might make playoffs at best, but for sure no SB though.

How far have we fallen that we now rely on other teams to lose to make our standings not seem so bad?

The standard for this team used to be home field advantage throughout the playoffs...not just a divisional crown and a wild card berth, which we would be lucky to get now.

This team learned the hard way last year that it is tough to win on the road in the playoffs. Seems the message didn't quite register now did it?

I wouldn't, because panic implies that you don't know what you're doing. Yeah, you're worried about the outcome, but you're not thinking clearly.

I'd like to see them play with focus. That's what I'd like to see.

I kept hearing the players and coaches last week say they weren't in panic mode. Well you know panic mode might be exactly what they need. It's time for some anxiety in that locker room. Fight or Flight!

Oh it's time to panic. We may only be 1 game back which is great but we are so bad that it is definetely time to panic.

Something has to change.

Some of you guys seem to think that just because the other teams in our division aren't world beaters that it automatically makes our recordm and more importantly our performance, more tolerable. It doesn't. Unless we clean up our mistakes in a drastic fashion, it doesn't matter what Washington, the Giants, or Philly does because we will end up so far down in the standings we can't climb out. We just need to start executing and worrying about our own performance.

The standard? Then why have we only held the #1 seed in the NFC/NFL playoffs 5 times out of our 30 trips to the playoffs?

The standard is to get in and get to the conference championship game and roll the dice.

5 out of 30 is considered very, very good. Coaches and players stated over and over again that they wanted the 1st seed to avoid playing in venues like the Metrodome all over again.

Do you have confidence in this team winning a conference championship at Lambeau, for example?

I'm not even confident this team can score on consecutive drives much less that.

Not panic then. But urgency would be nice. Before the final 4 minutes of the game.

I agree they have many to fix and they don't really meet up with our or anyone's preseason expectations. They need to play with a sense of urgency and need to find an offensive identity but I'm not freaking out like the world's over. Next week is a must win for sure, b/c 0-3 and we'll all be panicking for sure, but for now I'm not worried.

I agree. Before the Roy Williams fumble, I was thinking, "Why don't we play like this when we still have time?"

Right now, I'm trying to have confidence that this team can beat the Texans in Houston. If the playoffs started today, we wouldn't even get in.

Anyway, we still could end up getting the #1 seed overall. If the rest of the conference beats up on each other this year and we don't lose our heads, then we could take it.

Guaranteed the team is starting to feel a sense of panic.

And probably desperation.

And probably helplessness.

Up hill battle from here on out and not a single game on the schedule looks any easier than the others.

If this team doesn't play with an EXTREME sense of urgency next week, that will tell us all we need to know and will prove our worst fears true. It will prove that the players, at least some of them, really don't care about winning and that the coaching staff is inept (well, we already know that) and cannot motivate even under severe circumstances. Maybe we'll be surprised and see an all out us-against-the-world type of performance. I'll believe it when I see it.

:laugh2:

It's a long season. We'll have several opportunities to panic. I'd hate to miss one this early, though.
