Looks like we're going to talk with the old fossil. Bad move if we sign this old grandpa as our backup. Dumb. Harrington or Ramsey, please.

I look at him as another future NFL coach somewhere sometime........maybe not a head coach, but a wealth of expeirience at QB, offense systems, training

Honestly though, he can win in the league with talent around him. I don't think either Ramsey or Harrington is better...they have the ability to have better games, but I think over the long haul they are not as safe. Besides, if Romo goes down then we are going to have issues regardless IMO.

i would rather have ramsey or harrington also, but they are not on the market and do you really want to wait and see if they ever get released before you line someone else up?what if they don't get released?

I like Brad Johnson a lot as a back up. He would know why he is here and would be able to step in and be effective for a few games if needed.
No one thinks he is a franchise QB, including himself. He would be a good mentor for Romo.

We need to get as many good teachers around Romo as we can because it appears we have hitched our wagons to him. I don't want a "Young" guy behind him. And if Ramsey can't succeed in Washington and he gets benched infavor of a REAL fossil, why would you want him here?

I like Brad Johnson as a backup. Actually I think it would be a good signing, If Romo where to go down I would feel a whole lot more comfortable with Johnson in there than Ramsey or Harrington. Perfect signing if you ask me. I would then want to draft a QB as a third option and someone to put in training.

Why anyone would want Harrington is beyond me. He is a proven scrub.
Ramsey would be my next option.

Johson would fill the role perfect though IMO.

my pick would be harrington. If we could snag him away with say a 4th then I'd definetly do it.

What does it matter? If Romo goes down we're likely screwed anyway. The O-line looks like it'll be swiss cheese so whoever the backup is, if he doesn't have Romo's agility, they're toast.

I like the move myself.
A back up QB is essential, but I wouldn't want to trade for him or pay him alot of $$$.

If it comes to pass, I like eeeeee:)

I am ok with Johnson as a back up. As stated above, he can win with our players if there playing well. And we do need a back up in a most pressing manner. Hes more then servicable and also as noted above, he contains a lot of information he could pass on to #9. Maybe he could hold for us too?

a 4th for harrington??!?! are you insane???

yeah.... what rookie QB are you going to find in the 4th round that'd be even close to Harrington..... that's the way I look at it. Giving a 4th for a decent backup QB is pretty good investment in my eyes.

It will be a big surprise if he isn't outright released. No reason to give Miami a draft pick.

Yeah, I'd take the youngsters who have proven they can't win in the league over the fossil who has. As a backup none the less:rolleyes:

If he's outright released there is a chance we could get into a bidding war and overpay for a backup QB if we even wanted him that bad. However by sending a pick we insure the right that he'll be here. Plus I didn't mean send a fourth because that's what it'll take I meant it as more of a variable number, say if we could get him for a sixth or seventh then do that. If he is going to get flat out released them I'm sure the Dolphins would take a seventh for him so atleast they'd have something.

edit: I didn't know what they were asking for him {if they were really shopping him} I was just saying fourth as in that'd be as high of a pick I'd use on him, if they had no intentions on releasing him. However since apparently there is a good chance he might get released I'd say no higher then a sixth or seventh.

I am sure we could find an airheaded loser of quarterback with our 4th round pick.

Johnson could NOT be counted on to start long term should Romo turn out to be a flash in the pan. We can do better.
