We have had consecutive non playoff seasons 3 times this Century.
2019-2020
2010-2013
2000-2002

Many fans feel last years absence was due all to injuries, especially Prescotts. But we had a losing record with him and didn’t look like on a playoff projectory regardless.

We didn’t really address most of our weaknesses in FA. And it’s unlikely the draft will strengthen up all those holes significantly.

Meanwhile Phil and Wash look poised to finish 1-2 in the division leaving us battling for 3rd with a slew of NFC teams primarily in North and West division in a better position to battle for Wild Card slots.

I’d argue winning 8 or 9 games this year would be an improvement over last year. And that’s assuming we can stay healthier than last year. That will be enough to keep us in the playoff hunt but come up short.

Maybe the bigger question this season is do the Cowboys need to get back into the playoffs to retain Shotty another year?

Or will he be given more rope. Perhaps it will depend on how it goes down.

But this team on paper certainly doesn’t look like a playoff caliber team. We’ll see what we hit on in the draft and or any moves or trades we make .

We must remember when evaluating our prospects for the season it’s not just about what we have done or where we are but how our competitors have done and where they are.

It’s very easy for me to name 7 better teams in NFC.

Shotty is there for 3 seasons minimum Jerry doesn’t like eating coaches money. Playoffs, no one knows until they play, on paper it’s doesn’t look good but you know Jerry and Stevie say it’s a championship roster and big things are coming. 7-10 , 8-9 seems reasonable just remember talent acquisition is 24-7-365 and the Jones boys are waiting for the phone to ring.

They were a playoff caliber team last year, but way too many injuries. However, some fans will not take that into account.
Yes, there many questions and holes to fill. And we do not know if they did until we see them on the field.

I will say they can compete for that last WC spot at this point, if all stay healthy, and they get some players back that will start on PUP by week 6 or so.

They will not compete for the NFCE title. Philly will not drop off much, and may improve, since they know how to work FA and the draft better.
Washington will be improved. However, some will say, film will catch up to their QB as all does for 2nd year QB's. Well many do.

NFCE, 2 playoff spots. Maybe a team slips down, if they get the injury bug.
NFCN, 3 playoff spots easily over Dallas. So one of the teams needs to drop down. Could 2 teams drop down?
NFCW, 1 or 2 spots, so a team will need to drop off here as well.
NFCS, 1 spot

This is more like they are into year 2 of 3 for a soft rebuild plan.
But as we know it is a year to year league.

The Cowboys will finish 3rd or 4th in the division. I’m leaning more towards 4th because I believe we have the worst QB in the division now that the Giants improved the position.

Brian Shottenheimer is also the HC.

What injuries ruined their playoff chances last year?

I guess this will just need to play out. The front office still thinks that Dak Prescott is going to win "titles." All of a sudden within a single offseason the Cowboys PR department wants us to think that Schottenheimer is the next coming of Chuck Noll. The sad part is that this lesson won't be learned in one season, we will likely burn 3 - 4 seasons before they realize that Dak Prescott and Brian Schottenheimer aren't the answer to any problem.

Did you watch the latest presser? The Jones boys MUST HAVE instilled some confidence in you, no? I am shocked you dont have us penciled in at 15-2 after watching that humdinger

You’ll have em winning the division and making the playoffs regardless of the draft.

As if some rookie offensive lineman is going to change anything in your eyes.

Who you think you foolin? lol

Yeah I don't get this being repeated over and over.
3-5 "with" Sleep Number pre injury and he was stinking up the joint statistically.
Is the assumption that he was gonna do some 9 game miracle turnaround?
Add in the Guyton nightmare season and benching and subsequent LT carousel and I'm not sure how that is perceived as playoff caliber.
Uhhhhh...NO.
Lol

and you'll have us in last place....regardless of anything they do or don't do.
you ain't foolin' anybody.
it takes no guts to be a critic.
its cowardly.
square your shoulders like a man.

You think you’re brave for falling in line every year and liking what you’re told to like? That’s your idea of courage?

Bahhh bahhh
