No Sacks

Points allowed on defense, getting off the field on 3rd downs, sacks and turnovers are the most important things I care about with defenses. Dallas has been horrible in the sacks and turnovers categories. Those must be corrected before the playoffs. Getting Claiborne back as well as Church may help with getting turnovers (maybe) but I'm unsure where the sacks come from.

The sack issue isn't going to be corrected before the playoffs.

There simply isn't the talent at DE.

May pick up more turnovers, but sacking the QB more than what they have isn't going to happen.

That sadly was my point Winicki. I had hoped the DT spot would be where sacks came from. Dallas has more talent on the interior of the DL...IMO. The 3tech hasn't been the source of sacks like it normally is under Marinelli. Only Hatcher got double digits at that position.

Maybe Collins and David Irving turn the corner and start getting sacks. I do think Crawford is playing well LDE and Lawrence is going to keep rounding into shape at RDE but think they only start flashing when the DTs start making plays.

During the Boys game against the Ravens (in the 2nd half thread) I pointed out that the Giants pass rush had started to show life. Landon has been a turnover magnet at safety too.

And it's not going to get fixed until the offseason.

They're simply going to have to find a way to win.

Yeah it's something we're going to live with this season. As long as they continue to find ways to win it's going to okay but it obviously concerns us as fans.

I would imagine that the majority of this offseason is about beefing up this defense with the draft and some FA possibly. I'd think the only offense they might seriously look at it WR (depending on what decision is made with Williams) and RT.

Demarcus Lawrence has been disappointing. He needs a new nickname.

I wish I could say he's been disappointing but unfortunately, for me personally, he's been pretty much exactly what I felt like he was. A decent player who can flash here and there who became WAY over hyped because he caught on late last year with Hardy out there taking all the pressure off him.

Sadly so far D-Law has not been able to prove me wrong.

They got some early pressure and a few nice hits on Cousins, but once we got up 17-6 the secondary started to play way too soft. Cousins had guys wide open for 5 yards anytime he wanted to hit them.

Ok, all snarkiness aside, hope we make a really good free agent acquisition this off season. I'd like 1 15-22 sack guy. Or 2 10-15 sack guys please or 3 7-10 sack guys but not 4 0-6 sack guys

The defense is crap but we have made chicken salad out of it. We aren't 10-1 by accident, obviously the team is good enough to make up for the defense deficiencies.

Cousins attempted 53 passes and we did not get one sack or interception. We need to correct this because it is going to catch up to us especially in the playoffs. Hope we get our db's back before playoff time.

It is a concern. The Skins had a backup LT who played his first NFL snaps at age 30 and their RT was struggling with and injury.

Unfortunately there are no Charles Haleys out there to trade for right now. If we had a pass rush we would be unstoppable. I mean seriously when we go with a three man rush, the opposing QB could take a nap back there. Thank goodness we have a good secondary.

They might as well go with a 2 man rush and just put all of the DBs in the game.

Unfortunately there are no Charles Haleys out there to trade for right now. If we had a pass rush we would be unstoppable. I mean seriously when we go with a three man rush, the opposing QB could take a nap back there. Thank goodness we have a good secondary.

There is no players out there to trade for right now because the trade deadline ended over 3 weeks ago, can't make any trades until next season, and I'm not sure we have a good secondary right now with all the injuries. Actually I am sure, we do not have a good secondary right now.

yea the giants schedule set them up for the run they are on. playing 1 road game...at cleveland in 5 weeks is a joke.

It will be fun to see if the giants can stop the run again, this time with Ron Leary I think Dallas will do a better job with the big guys inside.

then on passing downs the giants blitz like crazy, they have corners they like in man coverage......will they blitz dak and give him easy lanes to run in or exploit singled up wr's?

That tells you how little the DE's are contributing.

The DT's are decent IMO but they're getting zero help from the DE's.

One elite RDE would make everybody better. Lawrence is a decent LDE but he is not good enough at RDE. TCrawford is great against the run at LDE but is limited as a pass rusher.

The team is going to have to use every resource available to get a quality RDE in here during the offseason.
