Your stats and examples are a nice read Shroo ...I'll give you credit for finding the time to past and copy some valid documented materials researched by someone else. Noted!
Now throw all that out the window because you can't calculate matchups in terms of easy schedules, etc. Because there's something to be said about your opinion and not someone else's.
You can't place the importance of winning against an easy opponent versus winning against a top rated team. Psychologically, teams play better and raise their Gamne up a notch when they are up against a top-rated team.
Retrospectively, teams that realize they are up against poor teams or teams considered easy, usually do not intend to apply as much efforts, have more often than not gotten surprised at the level of play from said teams, and have been upset from time-to-time.
Underdog teams play with the mentality ...What have we got to lose." While so-called top-notch teams play for the "W" and to avoid getting injuries from what might be considered a useless game.
In fact, winning against a so-called easy opponent could probably be seen as more important than otherwise. Would you view an easy win any less significant than a loss to a lesser opponent/poor team?

You've made my last point quite clearly!
