Well not to pile on but I had heard rumors thru law enforcement that Mr. Benson group of partiers had drugs on the boat as well but they weren't charged for whatever reason. I can't really vouch for that but it was making the rounds here recently. Apparently local law enforcement as a whole has a taste for him and its not a good one..

It makes sense that no teams are approaching Benson at this time. Even if there were a couple of teams interested in his services they probably want to wait and see how his off field issues unfold.

The Cowboys provide a good example. They knew when Tank Johnson was going to become available when they signed him. Similarly, Dallas has a rough idea on the potential status of Pacman. At this point no one knows what will happen with Benson.

There are teams out there that are short on running backs. With so much left to figure out about Benson they just can't take a shot on him right now. Not that I think there is a lot of interest in him anyway.

I wouldn't doubt that. I lived in Austin for two years, and im telling you that it takes 2 seconds to get anything u want down there. Theres alot of trouble that goes on in Austin. Fun town, but dangerous with law enforcement.

Even when he was a phenom RB recruit in high school at Midland Lee winning State Titles, he was never really considered a spectacular athlete. I actually remember a lot of people saying he was going to be a bust on the college level, because many people considered him to be an overachiever. He was most commonly compared to Emmitt, because he was production machine even though he didn't have great speed, measurables or flair. But he was the same way at UT ... he wasn't going to be confused with LT or Barry Sanders as far as highlight reel runs, but he was just super productive. He had great balance and vision and instincts and was a great inside runner because he wasn't afraid to stick his nose in there. He was perfect for the style of football the Bears wanted to play.

But a RB who makes his living between the tackles ... if you lose even a little of your your passion for the game and the taste of contact, you're done. You got to be fearless. You're not going to outrun or juke anyone. That's what made Emmitt so great .. he was this little 5'9" 205 lbs. RB who was at his best running between the tackles because he was just a warrior and afraid of nothing but failure. He loved football, and it showed the way he just couldn't give up the game at the end. I think Benson got his rookie contract that made him set for life financially and he got popped once really good in his rookie year by a 250 lbs. NFL linebacker and decided this wasn't very much fun anymore. It was all over from there.

I'm glad to see no team claim him. That sends a message to some of those knuckleheads it doesn't matter where you are drafted that character matters.
So what message does signing Pacman send?

Benson was another guy who's committment to football was questioned, because he played minor league baseball and didn't quit that until his Junior or Senior year
