College players dream of getting drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. They don't give a darn how many games we win, or whether we win a Super Bowl.
This may have been the case years ago but not anymore. The mindset of this generation must have totally changed from younger generations of athletes. Winning a SB should be the first priority of any player entering the league. The Jones world would be way down that list.

There's no real chance for 25 - 26 teams in the league to go to the SB.

50% of players in the draft are hoping they go to any team in a round that means more $$$$$$. Maybe 8% want to go high in the 1st round so they get more $$$$$$$$$.
The other 42% just want to get drafted so they can make more $$$$$$$$.

That's why they call them professionals because they are making $$$$$$$. Generally the Cowboys gives a player more exposure and that means more $$$$$$. I'd say if you polled a whole draft class most would be happy to be a Cowboy. The SB is not most players ultimate goal, it's making $$$$$$$$$ and maybe being somewhat famous.
And there in lies the problem with todays pro athletes.

All college players sit with some sort of anxiety, waiting for their dream to hear their names called by a NFL team. They made it to the NFL and sure it really doesn't matter what team that is. They made it.

But if you are a college player wanting to get MORE and seeking to win a Superbowl, you pray when you pick up the phone to hear from
Jerry Jones, " you are a Dallas Cowboy". Right there, you dream of winning a Superbowl is crushed. Now you have to focus on staying healthy so you play out your contract so you can leave Dallas for free agency to get that chance.
Wow just wow

Lol they aren't as jaded as us. Think about it, if it was your dream to be in the league and you were a life long Cowboys fan you'd leap at the opportunity to represent. Besides that players quality of life is pretty good in Dallas. Jerry takes care of his guys. Championship focus comes down the road.

When your draft slot determines your rookie contract I would think they just want to get drafted ASAP.

There are franchises that have never won the Super Bowl in their entire existence.

We're kinda like those in that we have the same chance of winning a 6th one as they do a 1st one, but still. At least there's a legacy of being good here.

Horrible analogy. I have a friend who was drafted...they do not think of this...AT ALL

This is a job. It's about money. People get big checks to go play for the Titans; clearly not for Super Bowls.

Would say their priorities are misguided in that regard. The way things are going they should be happy if we just have a country in the future that you can play your favorite sport in, and make money doing it. Those days are not guaranteed anymore.

I think the OP is trying to make a point that college players don't see Dallas and regard Dallas highly like back in the 70s, 80s, 90s and even early 2000s.....those players had actually seen the Cowboys win in the post season and win SB championships in their lifetimes. Players coming out of college now have never seen the Cowboys win anything besides two WC games. Dallas has indeed become the butt of jokes actually, along with Jerry. Of course ANY player wants to get selected by ANY team so they can start reaping the financial rewards for a lifelong dream of independence. Green is green.....no matter who you are with. Silver and Blue, Silver and Black, Red and White, Red and Black, who cares what color the team wears....Green is the answer. Their dream is not playing for Dallas, it's for playing for money. Even in FA, you see the difference. If you happen to make it to a team now like KC or like NE in the Brady years, then you can dream bigger.

Well, if they want to win the Super Bowl this is clearly not the place but if they want exposure, world class facilities, and lots of money then this is the place. And it's only 18 games max because we get to the playoffs and then decide to pack things up and start our vacation early. Being a Cowboy is enough for these losers. They don't need to win any playoff games.

These guys aren't crying on draft day because they think they are going to a good team.
It's about the $ for the owners and players. Mayne more about the $ for some but it still is about money. The love of the game is gone and Dallas is a prime example.

Just a few years ago, Micah Parsons was ecstatic when Dallas drafted him. CeeDee wasn't exactly upset when the Cowboys called him. As much as some of you hate the Cowboys, the sentiment isn't shared by everybody. When a team is on national TV every week, it picks up fans along the way. A lot of guys would love to be drafted by Dallas to help them win the Super Bowl they've never seen them win.

Stay focused on staying healthy?? You only need to have one good year in Dallas, and you get paid bank...and only here does getting injured NOT prevent you from getting paid anyway.

I dont really think college kids care all that much about winning a ring, they just want to get drafted as high as possible.

If the choice is getting drafted by Dallas in the 2nd round or getting drafted by the 49ers in the 4th round, guess what 99.9% of college players would pick.

Virtually everybody would pick getting drafted in the 2nd round over getting drafted in the 4th round, even if it means playing in Dallas with no shot to win a ring.

Exactly...........why do people think free agents sign with trash teams like the Titans with no chance to win jack?

The answer...............$$$$$$$$

This. It's just a job and fans just won't realize it. The players / coaches etc. are here to entertain us and make alot of money with it. So to be entertaining enough in order to be allowed "in" is the major focus here. And whoever pays you for your services is the right choice.

Only very few players with the financial background like Brady would take less in order to win more. All these guys have very short careers and have to get the most out of it.

So I don't really know where the OP is coming from, but the initial post is all nonsense. The Cowboys will always be a desirable club to play / work for.

Your 20 years past due with this post. I think Jerry has finally turned the page.
I agree with almost every move Jerry has or HAS NOT made. I would have fired Mike the fraud and hired Quinn, but I can't expect miracles.
The road to a super bowl is beginning to take shape.
