Not shocking.

This time around Dak is gonna be up there in age when the contract is set to expire. So that could change the calculus in how negotiations might go or if he is retiring or whatever.

He already had this in his contract before the extension. Why would anyone have thought it would be negotiated out?

So All the posturing and delay from Jerry and get basically didn't get anything for it.
.....it got Jerry what he craves most; daily media attention by ALL major sports media outlets

He did exactly the same with Ceedee and there's no reason to believe he won't do the same with Parsons contract

The way it now appears is that Jerry already knows he's going to pay the asking price so he mere extracts as much mileage as he can out of it . Jerry sees PR value out of it as media has talked about the Cowboys contracts every single day for 3 to 4 months now.....as in "all press is good press"

If anybody has a different theory, I'm all ears

It was purposely done the day of season 1 to block out all the haters and media circus.

Excellent work done by both parties, honestly.
I actually didn’t realize it until yesterday. Whether we win or lost yesterday that was gonna dominate the news coverage. The timing definetlu looks calculated. The reception to his contract has been a lot more quiet then I thought and thanks to them winning the media is forced to share that coverage with how bad Deshaun was and how good the Cowboys looked.
