No trade clause for Dak

There is absolutely no reason why Dallas should have given him a no-trade clause.

I am fine with resigning him, but I would want a way out after a year or two and start the rebuild if things keep going south in the playoffs.
It’s not you can’t trade him. You can still trade him.

Yeah, assuming you can get the player's consent.

They are effectively untradable unless you do something to make the situation untenable for the player.

The contract is so player friendly already ($231 mil guaranteed) I am shocked that they had to sweeten the pot even more with the no trade clause.

So what? He's going to be 35 when this deal expires. If he gets another contract here or anywhere else, it's going to be a heck of a lot cheaper anyway.

It's all about this four year window with Dak now. I think there's zero incentive to trade anyway given the financial investment.

Yeah, like those things were going to be taken out of this deal. Nothing new.

This means zero. No one is trading for a QB of his age or contract anyways. The scenario is never going to come up. Not to mention, the whole contract is pretty much guaranteed.

was always going to be a tough sell to not have that included considering the leverage he had. still kind of a bummer though. hopefully he can step up and perform worthy of such a massive and constricting deal.

With the Guarunteed money it really doesn't matter anyway...at that point trade/cut same diference..
It also doesn't matter because it doesn't mean the player can't be traded, just that he has to formally approve it.

It functions no different than a player just saying "I'm not going to sign there."

Another big blow to the Dallas Cowboys
A big blow to the Dallas Cowboys would’ve been had he left in free agency and we got stuck with nothing in 2025. I know some of you would’ve relished seeing a carousel of journeyman QBs competing for the starting job next year. Sorry you’re disappointed.

So All the posturing and delay from Jerry and get basically didn't get anything for it.

That’s 100% correct. All Jerry did was wait until the last minute to cave.

In his defense. The price was always gonna be the price. He had to just decide whether to pay it or not.

The only thing worse than being taken behind the woodshed, is being taken twice. By Dak, his agent and his getaway driver.

I dont like this FO much, 28 years wears on a fan, but at some point people will realize that the QB market is what it is...EVERY FO is getting taken to the woodshed by a QB who can put up quality starts in this league...Now not having a plan B worth a crap was the real shame by this FO..that will continue because thats this FO's MO

In the end, it won't matter. If we wanna trade him chances are he would go for it if it was a great team he was heading to so he could to win a SB. Im not worried about the clause.

Jerry has always stood by his players and empowered all to his level of franchise ability. Loyalty to producers.

Now. given full and potent production for offense and defense, payment coming due, is on his shoulders now. He is productive.

Yesterday, at first game time showed against a strong defense, the ability to even solidly run the ball. Against Cleveland, the Cowboys scores over their 29+ season average and top in the NFL last season. Good start point...less penalties.
