Noah Brown's future

With all of the changes/additions at receiver, it will be interesting to see if Noah Brown has a future with the team. There has been no news about him competing for a starting spot. He is a solid receiver but he doesn't possess great traits in speed or athleticism. He is a decent blocker. He may be relegated to reserve status and special teams mainly due to his low cost. If any WR on the roster can't beat out Terrence Williams for a starting spot then they are just roster fillers.

We will see what happens to T-Will after his surgery. Noah will have to explode to make it. Especially if for some reason we go WR early in the draft.

One those players who do everything right but nothing great......probably going to take a major injury to couple receivers for him to get real shot at serious playing time.

He’s at the bottom of the position group, with all that entails. Still though, he’s a guy they worked to get active last year, and a guy they gave offensive snaps to. The old regime liked him.

I can’t figure out the receiver group. Unless they outright cut Dez, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Especially if they’re looking to draft guys too.

It doesn’t look good for Brown with the few opportunities he got last season he had some drops. Even before we signed Hurns and Thompson I didn’t like his chances.

He was drafted as a project, and showed some very good promise. But will have to earn his way onto the roster again.
Great blocker, and ST’s. Not a lot of speed but knows how to get open, especially down field. Or did in the NCAA. but can he Learn that in the NFL.

Depends on if the trade TWill or Beasley too.

Right now I say he is the odd man out. Hate to see that. I still think he can bring some value. I don’t think signing the 2 WR’s is anything against him or others. Just trying to get better overall.

He was my pet cat last year, and I started in January before the draft on how the team needed to find someway to draft him.

I do not think we need both Beasley and Switzr clones, one must go. I would hate to see a player like Brown go because of this lame coaching staff and scheme and ego.

That group makes about as much sense to me right as the linebackers room does.

Brown and Dez are actually very comparable.

Brown was quicker in the 3 cone and shuttle.

Dez ran a 4.52 forty compared to 4.56 to Brown. Both pro day times.

Couldn't find any vertical numbers for Brown. Doubt they were as good as Dez at 38.

Brown was one of the best blocking WR's in the draft. He is very raw.

Almost identical in size to Dez.

I want to see more of him. Could be a very solid number two for us with plus blocking skills.

Yes. It's hard to know exactly what the team is thinking. It also depends on what the contract numbers tell you.

For instance TWill's contract indicates he is safe since his salary is guaranteed. But if you look solely at his play, he would be a candidate for a cut.

Everyone assumes Beasley may be the odd man out based on his contract being tradeable but if you look at three years worth of past performance he would be a lock to keep around.

This could get very interesting and take some interesting and unexpected turns. Who knows what they will ultimately decide. But I DO think a receiver is in play in the draft with a premium pick. That's a pretty solid guess.

I remember when someone suggested last year he'd be a true #1WR.

Good times.

He is a great blocker. He was the best blocker in college of any WR I've ever seen.

He'll get a chance to see what he can do in training camp.

I could see him evolving to be better than TWill.

If he is not 110% focused including film study and jugs machine he won't last long enough to develop.

The new WR coach is critical to players like him and Switzer.

TWIll already has had surgery and should probably be out of any type of walking boot or off crutches/scooter in the next couple of weeks, worst case next 4 weeks. Depending on the type of break and what was put in to stabilize it is probably another 4 weeks after crutches/boot/scooter before he can pound it running.

I don't know if Brown makes the team but I don't get why people think rookies won't improve. Miles Austin spent his first year on the Practice Squad and later went to a Pro Bowl. Dwayne Harris was a Practice Squad guy his first year and became a very solid player in time.

Like you say, Brown has the physical skills. I think he will compete with Switzer and a late draft pick for a roster spot but its crazy to write him off.

If he gets any less effective then others will pass him up.
