Sure the pads are just ventelated, with an attachment for an air hose. This allows Cold or Hot air to be pumped in as you desire.
 
It must be having some success as it's been several seasons now that they use them...I suspect that eventually we'll see other teams using something similar.

Miami muggy humidity is pretty tough to endure, never mind play football in...I'm just glad the meteorologists are as reliable as the newspapers are on world affairs...I feared thunderstorms was going to shift the balance in Miami's favor but alas it was not to be.
