Nolan, Bowles not candidates for DC job, but Pasqualoni is

I dont think he's getting it, but if as a last resort he does I think he might fare a little better than people think.

I dont think anyone would ever confuse him with being great or a game changer, but with a full offseason to make scheme and personnel adjustments, he would almost assuredly improve on what he did in 8 games with Wade's playbook and players, some of whom clearly need to be upgraded.

I definitely dont think our season is ruined if he's the DC. Just means the offense has to be really good. And it definitely can be really good.

Dave Wannstedt has suddenly become a hot coaching commodity
By MJD

Dave Wannstedt, best known as a former head coach of the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins and the University of Pittsburgh, as well as the owner of the NFL's seventh greatest mustache ever, is in high demand for a number of coaching positions.
That's the word from ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter. Wanny is reportedly wanted in San Diego, Carolina, Cleveland and Buffalo. Presumably, these teams would want him as a defensive coordinator, a position he held under Jimmy Johnson with the Dallas Cowboys from '89 - '92. Schefter and Mort say that Wannstedt also wants to be an assistant head coach, which he was under Johnson in 1999 in Miami.

Im assuming that is the case if he names him DC.

Maybe it means he just couldnt find someone that he thought for sure was a better candidate, and decided to go with him 1yr and look again next yr.

That said, I dont think he's getting it.

Well, at the least the gang of "overreactions and kneejerk reactions to small Florida blog articles" is still alive and well!

No doubt. People think this means we're keeping PP just because a blogger said so.

..and that if we do keep him we're gonna suck next year. lol

It can be fixed, remember this defense was really good in 2009 and for about half of 2008.

We have some issues at FS, SS, maybe one OLB spot and DE. One of the ILB is going to be upgraded substantially with an in house guy. The OLB could be upgraded via the draft, perhaps a backup (Butler) or maybe the new coach gets Spencer to revert to 2009 form. Even DE could be slved in house, if Josh Brent could play NT fulltime and maybe Ratliff goes to DE.

Still, that's a lot of ifs.

It is hilarious and enraging though how reporters in Miami seem to have more info about what's going on than the reporters in Dallas.
Well, I guess the people we've talked about most, Nolan and Bowles, are in Miami, and Paul P. was until last year...

Anyway, didn't a couple of our "insiders" say Paul P was going to be a strong candidate from the very start? Paul is a northeast guy and has Moose's endorsement... What whatever those are worth.

Not necessarily. If he cant get someone he views as a clear upgrade, he might be the DC for this yr and then replaced.

My opinion is that if Garrett ends up with Pasq. it is because he could not get the guy he wants and thus would settle for Pasq this year and get Capers next year when he becomes available.

I really don't have a big problem with that decision if he can't get someone he is comfortable with.

Yea, but its like our reporters in Dallas right now know nothing. The only things i've seen about the situation are fantasy inspired articles or rumors that have little evidence behind them.

Honestly right now all we have are a bunch of assumptions being thrown around i guess.. i don't believe that any media type or fan has any idea what Garrett is thinking right now.

It could also mean that Paul P did enough under his watch to get a full season to coach the D again. Also that he's experienced and Garrett is comfortable working with him.

The next DC may be the most important hire for the team over the next 10 years. Hiring Pasqualoni would be the absolute worst decision and would ruin Garrett's career as a HC unless he fires him after one year, something I have yet to see him do.

And there will be no reason for me to watch this team if that loser is the D-Coordinator.

What happened to the gang of "JG is putting his stamp on this team.." guys?

I thought we're supposed to accept every move that JG makes and be happy about it. If we keep Pauly P over Ryan or Fangio, we need to be happy about that right?

I support Garrett but it will be a cold day in hell when I support every move a coach makes, no matter who that coach is. I expect rough patches. I dont support this idea at all but I did not agree with everything Jimmy did either.

Overreact much? How is the guy a loser? Based on what exactly?

The only plausible reason for Garrett to bring back Pasqualoni as DC would be to stay in the running for QB Luck in next year's draft.

That's how it should be.. not any move specifically.. but no one should support every decision that any one person makes. Everyone makes mistakes and just because he's our HC and our "leader" now doesn't mean he's always going to be right.

Just because he's "putting his stamp on the team" doesn't necessarily mean he's going to lead us in the right direction. All we can do is wait and see.

If we had a decent FS and our CB's were playing to the level of 2009, Pasq style we saw in the last 8 games would do just fine. It would not be dominant but it would create Int's and would be servicable esp if we are just waiting on the right guy.

Pretty much.

I don't believe it would. A DC has to be able to compensate for his unit's weaknesses, and what we saw last year from Paul P, is what we'll get. No matter how many top draft choices we throw at his unit.

Yup, with better safety play and getting bigger up front, our D would do just fine with that style.

Because Yakuza won't let go of his college days watching Syracuse.
